8 Year Old Gift Guide

Ethan's 8th birthday is THIS Friday! I don't know where the time has gone or how our oldest is turning EIGHT! The name of the game for Ethan is anything and everything outdoors! He loves it! And it's the perfect season to encourage it! ;)

We're hoping to keep things small this year due to COVID but I'm just glad we can be outside.

I hope you're having a great week!

Back to School: 2nd Grade Edition

Ethan starts 2nd grade this Monday...saaaaaay what? I swear he was just starting kindergarten and now we're on to his third year of school. Slow.down.time!!! This is the last year of Ethan being in school before Wyatt joins him in 2020. It's wild!

Anyway...as much as I try plan to shop in person, I always end up ordering his clothes and supplies online. And this year, we actually got his school supplies a couple days in advance which means he gets to show up on day one, ready to go!

We have his little ice cream social later today, where he gets to learn who his teacher is and who is in his class. He's very excited and less nervous than he was last year, which is pretty awesome. I'll definitely share photos of his first day of school on Instagram, so be on the lookout!

Happy Back to School!

7 Year Old Gift Guide

Ethan turns SEVEN in one week! And he just had his last day of 1st grade yesterday...it's crazy how quickly time is flying! I can hardly believe it!

Ethan is getting more and more into sports and outdoor activities...anything he can do outside he loves, whether it's the beach, riding bikes with the neighborhood kids or playing on the field!

We're looking forward to this next year with our big boy!

A Pirate Party

With Peter Pan recently being re-released, Ethan has taken a huge liking to pirates, so it seemed like the perfect theme for his 6th birthday party! That...and the fact that we have a dedicated pirate store here in Tahoe...made it a fun choice! I'm especially lucky that Ethan still lets me pull the decor together...everything Meri Meri does just speaks to me! I love their stuff!

Here are some snaps for Ethan's birthday party!

Phoned it in BIG time on the cake! But made up for it with the ice cream truck...

...and the bounce house!

Can't believe we have a SIX year old in the house!

6 Year Old Gift Guide

Ethan's SIXTH birthday is today and I nearly forgot to post his birthday gift guide! I always find these guides helpful for scouting out ideas for birthdays. Ethan was pretty insistent this year on a new soccer goal and basketball hoop! He really loves hands on gifts, which is why the rock painting kit and blocks were a must!

Do you have go-to gifts for six year olds? Please share!

Halloween 2017

Halloween was a whirlwind this year! I felt like there was a lot more time to celebrate leading up to Halloween, especially with Halloween falling on a Tuesday night {school night!}. We went to school parties, a Harvest Festival and of course, trick or treating that night!

The boys opted to dress alike this year, which I can actually see being a trend for several years. Luckily, their two little friends had the same idea and we had a crazy ninja gang on our hands! Too funny!

I hope you had a great Halloween too!

Ethan's First Day of Kindergarten

Shirt // Shoes c/o {they light up!} // Letter Board

It's hard to believe Ethan had his first day of kindergarten yesterday. Well, technically, it was a nice introduction day for both kids and parents...we were only there for a two-hour orientation...but the whole idea of Ethan starting school is so exciting and overwhelming! Ethan could hardly stand himself he was so excited. He got himself dressed and practically begged to have his picture taken with his new backpack. I'm so proud of this little guy and can't wait to see him take on this new chapter in life.

Meanwhile, if anyone has advice on how to manage younger sibling separation, let me know! Poor Wyatt was beside himself that he had to go to pre-school by himself today! :(

Ethan's 5 Year Birthday Weekend

Today, Ethan turns FIVE! It's so hard to believe that five years flown by. Ethan just blossoms by the day and we're so excited for him to start kindergarten this fall. Cue the tears!

We celebrated his birthday over the weekend with all of his friends {and ours!}. We settled on an outer space theme since Ethan recently learned bout all of the planets. Some how, that also morphed into a Spider Man theme since that was the only thing available for a bounce house and cake. It all worked out and of course, Ethan loved the hybrid theme! ;)

By Sunday, we were totally spent and just wanted to hang at the beach! We grabbed pizza at Aleworx after to close out the weekend!

Also, super fun, but on Friday, our local library had a live animal show, complete with an alligator that all the kids got to pet. It was really neat!

I would say, all in all, it was a great birthday weekend!

5 Year Old Gift Guide

I can't believe I just put together a FIVE year old gift guide...where has the time gone and how is it possible that Ethan is about to be a kindergartner in a few short months?

This year, I'm trying to gift him more activities rather than toys as I know his brain is like a little sponge right now. In fact, during his preschool graduation, he said that he wants to do homework when he grows up...too cute! I'm really excited about the Osmo Genius Kit! I've heard other moms rave about it and think Ethan will love it! I'm also intrigued by the drill kit and animal book!

Also, a backpack is a must since he's starting school this fall and coming on the heels of kiddie kickers and T-ball...practicing soccer would be much more fun with a new net!

Last thing, we've had an influx of bugs around the house...prompting Ethan to observe them and Wyatt to squash them...and this ant farm looks so neat! I think Ethan would love it!

Do you have fun ideas for five year olds? I'd love to hear!

Outer Space 5th Birthday Party

Star Balloon + Solar System Whirls + Space Ship Piñata
Mission to Mars Birthday Invitation
Space Cookies + Banner + Party Dinnerware

Ethan's FIFTH birthday is coming up {fun fact, today, June 20th, was his due date} and this year, he requested an outer space party...complete with bounce house {like last year!}. I think we'll round out the party with some bomb pops and this splash pad {as opposed to a launch pad} since it's summer and super hot right now!

Check back later this week for birthday gift ideas!

Brother Update

Life with two boys is never dull...whether they're giggling themselves silly or screaming their heads off because one stole a toy or bonked the other's head, it's a zoo around here!  That being said, we wouldn't have it any other way and I thought it was high-time for an update!

Ethan :: 4 years

Ethan is 4 years old and just growing like a week!  He goes to preschool three days a week, rides his bike without training wheels, says his favorite colors are "pink and purple and blue," his favorite food is pancakes {according to him}, and he loves watching Disney movies.  Lately though his favorite movie is Spongebob Square Pants.  He still loves his trucks and is always asking for a new one for Christmas.  He especially loves driving his Power Truck around the backyard and is really good about not hitting his brother, who is in the way 99.9% of the time.  Ethan is our shy, sensitive guy...though once he comes out of his shell he warms right up.  He's a great big brother...and loves tucking Wyatt in at the end of the night.  His favorite activities this summer have been going to the beach, riding his bike and playing with friends.

Wyatt :: 20 months

Wyatt turns 20 months today and he is a ball full of energy!  He talks up a storm...it's constant!  He says so many words, and what he can't say, he will communicate one way or another.  He loves saying no {can't say yes yet}, outside, and dog...meaning he wants to feed the dog a treat.  He still loves saying "hi" and will say it so exuberantly...even when he wakes up in the middle of the night and we go in to try to get him back down.  It's HI HI HI pretty much all the time.  Wyatt seems to be a much better eater than Ethan, takes one nap a day, climbs all over everything, and tries to keep up with big brother on the regular.  He adores Ethan but won't put up with any crap.  He is definitely more outgoing than Ethan...we'll see how that evolves in time.

We're worried about containing these two once the winter hits...they both love being outside, always.  We'll have to work double-time to keep them busy.  In the meantime, we're enjoying the end of the summer and looking forward to fall festivities.

Our Summer in Lake Tahoe!

Life with two boys, while working full-time is no joke but we've really tried to enjoy the most out of summer...thus the lack of regular posts!  I honestly cannot believe tomorrow is the first day of September, but the late summer and early fall is a gorgeous time of year in Tahoe, so I say...bring it on!

Below is just a snapshot of our summer in photos...to keep up, follow me on Snapchat!  {schuelove}  You can also re ad about our trip to Lake Michigan and Ethan's birthday if you want to see more!  ;)

We tried to get out to the lake as much as possible!
Fourth of July at Edgewood!
Uncle Kirk and Aunt Heather came to visit!
 Ethan got a haircut!
We ate lots of charcuterie...and enjoyed wine at Revive!
We spent a good amount of time at the beach!
Ryan's sister and husband came to visit which was fun to have the whole Schue family together!
We celebrated our 7 year wedding anniversary at the Hyatt in Incline Village!
The boys spent a lot of time with their cuzzies!
And probably most exciting this summer....Ethan is riding a bike without training wheels!

Thanks for indulging and understanding my absence...what fun things have you been up to this summer!
