Master Bedroom::Pillow Help!

Before I start today's post, I want to give a massive shout out to Danielle Moss!  She is the talent behind my new blog design and I could not be more happy with it!  She has a great eye for detail and really took my theme to the next level.  I can't thank her enough!  :)

So, on to today's post.  It's been a while since I've touched on our master bedroom.  You last saw it here and we've recenlty added the Ikea Hemnes dresser here.  But since then, I've been pretty stuck.  We have switched out the lamps to some pretty turquoise ones, but the brown toile bedding has proven to be a challenge.

I found this picture recently and thought it might serve as a guide to add some more color/pattern/interest to the room.

I like that the painting and lamp are similar to what I have now.  If I were to fold our duvet back so that the brown toile isn't as dominant...then perhaps I could add in this navy/Parisian blue to incorporate more color and pattern.  Here are some ideas I found on Etsy...I would LOVE your opinion on which one you like best...or if this is too far fetched for my room.

I'm ready to make a purchase, so really value your opinion!  All thoughts and opinions welcome...which would option would you choose?

P.S. Don't forget...tomorrow I'm sharing my Christmas Vignettes and linking up over at A Thoughtful Place!   Be sure to stop by and link up!  :)

DIY Window Ornaments

Welcome to the first round of our Holiday Link Party!  I am so excited to kick off the holidays with this festive series and hope you'll all join in on the fun!

Today's theme is all about the Christmas Craft!  I am not the most crafty lady on the block, but I love creating unique decor for the holidays.  I've always loved the idea of hanging ornaments in the window, so decided to make some cute ornaments that fit my style.

My color scheme?  Black and silver!  :)

This was super easy to put together and it was fun to get creative on each of the ornaments.  I bought:

Clear plastic ornaments from Michaels {about $1 each}
Paint Pens in silver and black from Michaels
Silver Glitter Puffy Paint
Some glitter snow from K-Mart
Cute White & Silver Ribbon from Michaels
Fish Line
Decorative Icicles

I chose chevron {natch!}, polka dots, and snowflakes for my patterns and painted away.  Don't worry about being perfect...just consistent with your color and patterns.  I did about two patterns a piece.  I also filled some of the ornaments with the glitter snow...easy enough!

Next I stung each ornament with the decorative ribbon {I used fish line for the icicles}.  Tape them to your window, preferably underneath a curtain to hide the tape.  And voila!  Instant and easy window decor!

Love the cute ribbon!

Ironically...these look best at night...note the twinkling lights outside!  :)

As you can see...during the day, they blend in with the light.  But I think for the day, it's nice to take in the view and enjoy at night!

Here's our kitchen sink window!

 Side view!

Love all the patterns!

Here's a sneak peak of my Christmas Vignette...coming Thursday!  :)

And now comes the fun part!!!  Hop on over to Cassie's blog, Hi Sugarplum! and link up your Christmas Craft!  I can't wait to see what you've all come up with!

And here's a reminder of the line up to come!

What to Wear::Thanksgiving Day

I know you all have food on the brain...I mean, tomorrow is the biggest foodie holiday of the year!  But I'm always one to get dressed up for an occasion...and Thanksgiving is definitely reason enough!

Luxe Thanksgiving

Coat / Dress / Necklace / Earrings / Handbag / Headband / Boots

For me, Thanksgiving is about dressing up, but remaining casual.  After all, you'll need to be able to loosen your belt and roll yourself home at the end of the night.

I adore this wool dress!  It is comfy but still chic and can be worn so many ways!  Bare legs, knee high socks, leggings, skinnies, tights...the list goes on!  And these boots are the perfect compliment to the dress...flat and casual, but still chic.

To give the dress a special twist, I paired it with this gorgeous coat.  Aren't the pockets divine?  Definitely a show stopper!

I looked to taupe/brown & gold accessories, such as these vintage Chanel earrings and Michael Kors necklace.  And I love the Chanel-esque feel of the Kate Spade handbag.  So pretty and at a fraction of the designer price.  Last, I topped off the look with this fun feather headband...I own a few myself and always feel like they add just the right touch.

I'm also excited because I put together a more affordable Thanksgiving Day outfit over at Cheryl's blog today!  Hop over and check it out!

Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving tomorrow!!

Baked Brie with Fig Jam

Thanksgiving is officially upon us!  And I'm already dreaming of all the deliciousness I'm about to consume this Thursday!  Of course, part of the fun is all the baking that goes into the feast.  And any good host has appetizers for all the worker bees to snack on, right?!  :)

Which is where this baked brie appetizer comes into play!  I am a huge fan of brie and fig jam.  It's one of my favorite combos.  But I thought I would kick it up a notch by making the appetizer more fancy....thus the puff pastry!  Yum!  This so yummy & ooey gooey....it's such a hit for any party or prelude to dinner.

Baked Brie {adapted from Simply Recipes}
  • One sheet of puff pastry
  • 1 round of Brie Cheese {a wedge works too!}
  • Fig Jam {or sweet jam of your choice}
  • Honey
  • Brown Sugar
Preheat the over to 350 F.

Allow the sheet of puff pastry to thaw.  On a stick-free cookie sheet, lay out the pastry.  Place the round of brie on top.  Spread a healthy amount of fig jam on top of the brie.  Fold over the corners of the puff pastry on top.  Drizzle puff pastry with honey and sprinkle brown sugar.

Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until puff pastry is golden brown.  I topped our brie with dried cranberries...perfect for Thanksgiving!  Serve with crackers or apple slices.

Mmm fig jam!  This is what it looks like before you fold the puff pastry over it!  :)

Do you have any appetizers up your sleeve this Thanksgiving?

Hope you enjoy!  Bon Appetit!

Warm & Cozy

I don't know about all you you, but this past weekend was one of those...

snowy
lazy
stay in your pjs
cuddle by the fire
cozy
sip hot cocoa
sleep in
soft candlelight

kind of weekends!

November seems to by flying by and Thanksgiving, Christmas {and my birthday!} are approaching WAY too quickly!  So I suppose it was just what I needed!  I did head to Target to get some cozy clothes...and had some yummy chili with some girlfriends, but that was about it!  So I thought I would take some time to appreciate the down time...below is some inspiration drawn from my weekend.

These pants are lightweight, but super soft.  They're almost opaque which gives them a unique look and feel.  They are the perfect lounge pant for around the house...and the fit is great too!

This robe is soooo cozy...and also super soft.  It comes in a bijillion colors, so add it to your Christmas list or run out and get it now.  I loved this dove gray color...it's a nice change for the hot pink one I've been wearing previously.

Sorry for the laxidasical post...but I'm going to get back to snuggling now!  :)

Shopping Confessions::San Fran Edition

Happy Hump Day!  I hope your week is going well so far!  I'm excited because we're taking our Christmas photos today!  Can't wait to share them with you.  :)

As many of you know, I was in San Francisco over the weekend for a wedding.  I ended up wearing this dress with these heels!  Unfortunately I didn't get a great photo!  Oops!

Anyway...I got to do a little shopping on Sunday and wanted to share my buys...

lululemon is one of my favorite stores...but it is pretty darn expensive!  I fell in love with this scarf--which is actually more like a wrap.  It's got a great ruffle detail and is so warm and cozy.  I bought it, knowing I'll wear it all winter long.  Some things are just worth the money.

Zara Circular Scarf

I also bought this green scarf {have I ever mentioned my obsession with scarves?!!}.  I fell in love with this color...it's much richer in real life and will be perfect for the holidays.  I might even wear it for our photo shoot tomorrow!

I also got this sweater...which turns out to be a dress.  Remember when I said I needed more tunics?  Well this seemed to fit the bill...it will look great with leggings/skinnies and boots.  And the price is just right too!

Zara High Heel Cowboy Ankle Boot

Liz from Sequins & Stripes has been showing off these beauties on her European trip and I knew I had to have them.  I got them in black and can't wait to wear them this season!

This is not the most exciting purchase, but again..on the lookout for more tunics and this is the perfect length.  Plus it comes in several colors...so I had to go for it.

Target Home Fuzzy Blanket

And last but not least, I got this AMAZINGLY cozy blanket!  It is so so soft and warm...I'm cuddling under it as I write this post.  And it's BIG, which is a plus.  I think I might be officially ready for winter!

Have you made any fun purchases lately?
