Ethan's First Day of Kindergarten

Shirt // Shoes c/o {they light up!} // Letter Board

It's hard to believe Ethan had his first day of kindergarten yesterday. Well, technically, it was a nice introduction day for both kids and parents...we were only there for a two-hour orientation...but the whole idea of Ethan starting school is so exciting and overwhelming! Ethan could hardly stand himself he was so excited. He got himself dressed and practically begged to have his picture taken with his new backpack. I'm so proud of this little guy and can't wait to see him take on this new chapter in life.

Meanwhile, if anyone has advice on how to manage younger sibling separation, let me know! Poor Wyatt was beside himself that he had to go to pre-school by himself today! :(

Staying Hydrated

Similar to workout clothes, I feel the cuter the water bottle, the more likely it is that I'll drink water throughout the day. Water bottles have literally become the new "it" thing to carry around! I especially love the insulated ones...I bring coffee to work in the morning and it stays super hot and then fill it up with water for the rest of the day and it stays super cold. Win-win!

What's your take on the fun water bottles?

Making that Fall Transition

I'll admit, like most people, I get ridiculously excited for the transition to fall. It's the best of both worlds: layers, mules, pattern and just overall coziness without being freezing!

A couple thoughts:

+ I love that the circle bag is transitioning to fall with this leather version.
+ Stripes and Camo are my favorite fall combo.
+ Mules are like sandals, but without needing a pedicure!
+ Suede jackets and long cardigans always make an outfit appear more put together.
+ The cropped demi cut jean is such a flattering cut...can't wait to wear them with sandals, then mules and finally boots as the weather transitions.

What are your favorite fall transition trends?

Anniversary Getaway to Wine Country

We celebrated our 8 year wedding anniversary this past week, traveling to Healdsburg for a two-night getaway. After visiting earlier this year, I was dying to get back and to show Ryan. It was the perfect amount of time to unwind, relax and reconnect.

We kicked off our stay by going to Bravas Bar de Tapas. I highly recommend eating outside and enjoying a cheese board + their large selection of tapas. Ryan got the Thai One On cocktail and is was delicious! Super refreshing after a long drive!

Afterwards, we walked the square which has a ton of super cute shops, restaurants and wine tasting rooms. We scheduled a tasting in advance at Banshee Wines, mainly because the tasting room is super cute! Their wines are really good too!

My shirt {under $30!}

Afterwards, we stopped at Noble Folk Ice Cream and I got the Lucky Charm flavor!

One of the better decisions we made was to stay at a fun hotel, H2Hotel Healdsburg, on the square. As always, I booked a week in advance via the app HotelTonight and we got a great deal {use NSCHUE to get $25 off your first stay! Totally not sponsored, but have to mention!}. The hotel was SUPER cute and modern. It had ivy crawling all around the building, an amazing spoon fountain, free jugs of water and snacks in every room, plus a salt-water pool! It was heavenly!

An added perk was that Spoonbar is on site and they make some of the most amazing hand-crafted cocktails I've ever had. This one was the rosemary margarita...yum!

For dinner, we went to Wili's Seafood & Bar for oysters and other delicious seafood!

The next day was our wine tasting day, so we grabbed coffee at Flying Goat and checked out Shed before heading out for the day!

If you can only go to one winery while in Healdsburg, trust me and go to J Winery! The flight of champagne is out of this world and you must do the cheese pairing. I've never had a more unique pairing of cheeses before. It's quite the experience!

Afterwards, we grabbed deli sandwiches at Oakville Grocery and headed out to Bella Vineyards, where the tastings happen in a cave, and Preston Farm and Winery, an expansive property with a lot of family history.

For dinner we headed to Valette, which was probably my favorite meal of our trip. The food and service was amazing and the entire experience was special. It's a great place for an anniversary dinner or date night. Be sure to order their house made charcuterie and save room for their bread, butter and jam dessert!

We ended our trip at Shed for breakfast. Their Belgian waffle is to.die.for!!!

It was such a fun weekend and especially nice to really reconnect with my husband! I tease that even though we are pretty good about date night, there is something about the 24-hour mark that really makes a difference!

Finding the Perfect Tote

1 // 2 // 3
4 // 5 // 6

Fall is right around the corner and somehow I always get into the same "back to school" mode for myself this time of year {old habits must die hard...and yes, I've already taken care of Ethan's "back to school" backpack!}. I've been toting around loose notebooks and files for work and I think I need to finally invest in a proper tote, but the question is, which one?? I'm definitely drawn to one above, but would love your input. Do you have a favorite tote that's functional for work but still cute for the weekends {and let's be honest, diapers and wipes too}? Let me know in the comments below!

Happy Weekend!

Back to School Style

You guys! Ethan starts kindergarten THIS MONTH! How is that even possible?!

I still feel like Ethan was born just yesterday and that he'll always be our baby {must be a first born thing!} but I am also so excited for him to start this new adventure. He is like a little sponge right now and is learning so much at preschool. I am constantly amazed with what he comes home telling us he learned. It's really something else! And funny enough, during his preschool graduation, when asked what he was going to do when he grows up, he said "homework"...no joke! This kids loves to learn. So we are excited for him.

And luckily, his school is in our neighborhood and a bunch of his friends from preschool are going there so he will be in familiar territory.

We haven't received a school supplies list yet, but I am currently on the hunt for a backpack and some new gear to kick the school year off right. If you have suggestions, let me know! Oh! And let me know what your favorite booster seat is...we are getting ready to make the move.

What I Bought // What's In My Cart

What's in my Cart: Tote // Heels // Blow Dryer // Jeans // Coat // Lash Serum // Sweater

Ladies...the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale ends THIS SUNDAY! Which means that it's time to complete those purchases that are currently sitting in your cart {if you still have them in your cart!}. I will say, if you have an eye on an item and it's not in your size...Keep checking! I literally hit refresh several times at different times during the day and night and trust me when I say, they do restock randomly! That's how I ended up with the bell sleeve top and Patagonia pullover!

I'm super  happy with the things I did purchase! The bell sleeve top is super soft and will be perfect for fall. The skirt is great staple for work. The slides are really well made and comfy out of the box. And I know I'll get a ton of use out of my pullover this fall, likely while watching Ethan's soccer games!

Of the things that are in my cart, I do really want to buy a pair of dark denim for fall, it's just a matter of which pair. That coat looks so great to replace my black one that I've literally had since high school. I've been looking for a carry-all tote for work and travel, so this Madewell one would be perfect. I really want that sweater, especially with the back zipper detail, but they haven't had my size. Those heels are so fun with the stud detail, but can also be worn to work. I've heard amazing things about that lash serum. And last, I've had my hair blow dryer now for several years, so it's only a matter of time before it goes.

So there you have it! Have you splurged on anything from the sale? Still contemplating some things? Let me know in the comments below!
