Holiday Happenings

It's been a whirlwind of a holiday season this year! I feel like I blinked and Christmas all of a sudden is less than a week away! 😱 Where as the time gone? I so glad I took a couple pictures to remind me of all that we've done!

Christmas tree hunting was super fun, especially with hot cocoa and popcorn in hand!

All decorated and lit up! We got the tree skirt from Target! Stockings are from Pottery Barn Kids.

Some of our wrapped gifts nestled under the tree!

We ordered some new geometric ornaments from CB2 and love them!

Daddy scored the Santa photo with BOTH boys smiling!

Ryan and I spent a kid-free weekend in San Francisco to see the Nutcracker and get some shopping in! I love the holiday decor in the city.

Ethan had his preschool holiday program and did such a good job singing!

This past weekend, we made sugar cookies and my OCD went into overdrive as flour and sprinkles were spread all over the kitchen! All worth it though! 😉

Slippers // Ethan's Pajamas

We've also managed to sneak in some snuggles and movie time too!

I'm trying to enjoy these last few days of the holiday season!! I hope you are too! Only FIVE more sleeps!

Brown Sugar Lip Scrub: I don't really know what lip scrub is, but I'm intrigued!

Tweezerman Tweezers: Because they are the best!

X-Shape Ring: Such a simple way to make a statement.

Are you done with all of your shopping?

Our Christmas Card

One of my favorite traditions of the holiday season is putting together our Christmas cards. It's the one time of year where we ca get dressed up and have our picture taken. This year was especially "fun" as both Ryan and Wyatt were wickedly sick the night before our photoshoot...but they pulled through like champs! Shockingly, there were a ton of great shots...so we decided to showcase some of our favorites on the backside of the card.

As always, we used Minted and loved how our cards turned out!

Our photos were taken by Melissa Vossler, who was patient and kind enough to put up with our crazy, sick herd! Many thanks to her for capturing these moments! :)

San Francisco Getaway: Outfit Planning

Ryan and I are off to San Francisco for the weekend to see The Nutcracker and get a little holiday shopping in! I love planning out my outfits and thought I would share!

Look 1 // Sightseeing: It's supposed to be raining all weekend long, so I want to be warm and comfortable, yet still a little stylish! ;) I don't have Hunters yet, but may need to change that this weekend. I have and LOVE these jeans and vest though, total staples!

Look 2 // Night Out at the Nutcracker: I am SO excited to take Ryan to see the Nutcracker...it was one of my favorite Christmas traditions growing up and Ryan has never seen it before! I adore the look of this dress...isn't it festive?
Dress // Clutch // Heels also love these!

Look 3 // SoulCycle: I am SO excited to try out my fist SoulCycle class! I just got into Peloton {which streams online so you can spin at home} but haven't tried this cult favorite!

We're staying at the Axiom Hotel {we got a great deal on the app, Hotel Tonight! Use code NSCHUE to get $25 off your reservation! This is our second time booking through them and love it!}.

Do you have any recommendations on places to eat or things to see? Let me know in the comments below!

Hearty Winter {Veggie!} Chili + Gift Guide for the Cook

I posted this black bean and sweet potato chili on Instagram the other day and got a couple requests for the recipe, which you can find here! We sprinkled cotija on top, which I thought balanced the sweetness in the soup. We've also tried this recipe and love it just as much!

Also, for all the cooks, bakers and chefs in your life, I've put together some fun gift guide ideas that will become staples in the kitchen!

Serving Tray + Cheese Knives: The perfect way to showcase your cheese or special dessert!

Stemless Champagne Flutes: With a copper touch!

Cooking with Jeffrey Cookbook: Barefoot Contessa's cookbooks are my absolute favorite and this one is no exception!

Le Creuset Dutch Oven: We finally bit the bullet and bought one of these bad boys and it is definitely a game changer when it comes to cooking.  PLUS, it's dishwasher safe!  Worth every penny, IMO and you can also get the one with the gold knob, which is especially pretty!

Wood Pinch Bowls: Perfect for salt or for finger foods like nuts or olives.

Silicone Spoons: We also have these and swear by them!

Silpat Microwaveable Mat: We love our Silpat and use it regularly. I'm super intrigued by this microwaveable option!

Lustre Pasta Bowls: Pretty bowls make everything taste better, right? Love the lustre in these and how versatile they are!

Thanksgiving 2016

We spent our Thanksgiving down in Orange County at the beach!  It was a whirlwind of a weekend but we wouldn't have had it any other way!

I'm pretty sure this was Wyatt's first visit to the ocean...he loved it!

Thanksgiving Family Photo!

My sister-in-law!

Funny story on Santa.  Every year, we try to see Santa and Ethan wants nothing to do with him.  Wyatt doesn't either, which is why he is not pictured above.  I thought maybe, just maybe, Ethan would finally be into meeting him this year since he's starting to understand the whole concept behind Christmas and Santa.  Well, he wasn't having it and I told him he had to tell Santa what he wanted for Christmas so he knew what to get him.  After many tries and on our way out, Ethan finally gave in and said he would do it.  He told Santa he wanted a Star Wars watch and that was that.  Until...we got outside of Santa's house and Ethan had a full-blown, fall to the floor, unconsolable meltdown.  He was under the impression that if he told Santa what he wanted, that he would get it, right then and there.  Oops!  We definitely should have clarified!  Have we ruined him for life?!  ;)

After Thanksgiving, I reunited with my girlfriends from high school and their babies...so fun!

19+ years of friendship and counting!

My handsome brothers and their better halves!  ;)

Our last morning, we went to my dad's to celebrate an early Christmas...the boys LOVED opening their gifts, eating chocolate chip cookies and wearing their new Christmas pajamas!

I hope you had a great weekend too!

Working Mom #OOTD

For those of you moms out there that work full-time, you know the challenge that comes along with kid-friendly-weekend-clothes versus work-week-professional {I hope I escaped the house without spit-up or mashed avocado on myself} clothes...right?  For me, it's all about style and comfort...and wardrobe pieces that serve multiple purposes.

Here are some of my recent outfits of the day:

Hat // Sweater-on sale for $22! // Skirt c/o // OTK Boots // Handbag-Similar

Both looks work great for work, and the second look with the hat is a good example of how I make it work for the weekend.  Margaret M generously sent me the pants and skirt to try out and I am hooked!!  The pants are SO comfortable!  They are super stretchy but still structured...I am going to buy more they're that good!  :)  They come in two lengths, as do the skirts, so they're very versatile...and there are a ton of patterns too!  Definitely check them out and follow along on Facebook and Instagram.

What are your go-to looks {and secrets!} as a working mom?!
