Pandemic Style: Thanksgiving

It will be a different kind of holiday season this year--who would have guessed that we'd still be coping with a full-blown pandemic?? I'm trying to embrace the idea of being home and cozy this year. It's a little less pressure and hopefully a lot more intimate. And I'm all about embracing the holiday season between the music, movies, decorations and yummy treats!

With Thanksgiving being less than two weeks away, I though I'd pull together some ideas on what to wear. I personally have this top and this top and will probably wear one with sweats jeans! ;) Though...that jumpsuit looks awfully tempting! Maybe for the day after!

Our Thanksgiving 2017

This year, we spent Thanksgiving in Scottsdale. We had gorgeous weather and lots of family time!

Let's start with the weekend before though! We surprised Ryan's grandma for her 80th birthday in San Diego! The boys enjoyed lots of time in the pool and at the zoo! We also got to meet the newest addition to our family, baby Charlotte! The boys were totally smitten with her!

The boys checking out the lions with Grandma!

Cousins!

Ok, on to our Scottsdale trip! Ethan spent a majority of the time in the pool there as well! We had a big Thanksgiving dinner with family...23 adults total!

The airport had a wall where guests could write down what they're thankful for + tons of dogs that were there simply to be pet. They even handed out baseball cards with the dogs background on them. So cute! This pup's name is Ginger! ;)

Baby Charlie's first dip in the pool!

Thanksgiving Day! My dress is from Free People if you're interested!

The Schue Fam!

Pretty palm trees at Scottsdale Quarter, all lit up!

When we got back home, we decorated the Turkey gingerbread that we received from my mom...pretty cute!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving 2016

We spent our Thanksgiving down in Orange County at the beach!  It was a whirlwind of a weekend but we wouldn't have had it any other way!

I'm pretty sure this was Wyatt's first visit to the ocean...he loved it!

Thanksgiving Family Photo!

My sister-in-law!

Funny story on Santa.  Every year, we try to see Santa and Ethan wants nothing to do with him.  Wyatt doesn't either, which is why he is not pictured above.  I thought maybe, just maybe, Ethan would finally be into meeting him this year since he's starting to understand the whole concept behind Christmas and Santa.  Well, he wasn't having it and I told him he had to tell Santa what he wanted for Christmas so he knew what to get him.  After many tries and on our way out, Ethan finally gave in and said he would do it.  He told Santa he wanted a Star Wars watch and that was that.  Until...we got outside of Santa's house and Ethan had a full-blown, fall to the floor, unconsolable meltdown.  He was under the impression that if he told Santa what he wanted, that he would get it, right then and there.  Oops!  We definitely should have clarified!  Have we ruined him for life?!  ;)

After Thanksgiving, I reunited with my girlfriends from high school and their babies...so fun!

19+ years of friendship and counting!

My handsome brothers and their better halves!  ;)

Our last morning, we went to my dad's to celebrate an early Christmas...the boys LOVED opening their gifts, eating chocolate chip cookies and wearing their new Christmas pajamas!

I hope you had a great weekend too!

Our Thanksgiving 2015

We had a nice, low key Thanksgiving Weekend complete with a a snowy scene up here in Tahoe.  It was Wyatt's first Thanksgiving--and our first Thanksgiving as a family of four!  We got to spend it with Ryan's family {including Ethan's cuzzies pictured above!} and had two full days of stuffing ourselves silly!  The best part of being in town for Thanksgiving?  We got our tree up and decorated the same weekend!  Hooray!

And now, of course, it's perfectly acceptable to play Christmas music non-stop, light Christmas candles and bake lots of cookies!  :)

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Eve

On the eve of Thanksgiving, I'm taking a stroll down memory lane of the last three years...

2013

2014

I can't wait to celebrate with BOTH boys tomorrow!  We're staying in Tahoe and celebrating with Ryan's side of the family.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Our Thanksgiving

Hello and Happy Thanksgiving...a couple days late!  ;)  OH and can you believe it's already December?!

Did you all have a great holiday weekend?  We traveled down south and got to catch up with family and friends.  We enjoyed the warm weather and great company.  Here's an overview of our trip...

Ethan had his own seat for the first time while flying...he also suffered a pretty bad fall at the airport.  Check out that shiner on his forehead!  :(

Every time we travel down south, we stay with my bestie/soul sister in her gorgeous home.  She put together the most stunning centerpieces for Thanksgiving.  I wish I could whip something up like this!

When we're down with my family, we always do brunch on Newport Harbor with my mom and then dinner with my dad.  It's not a bad place to be!

Our 2014 Thanksgiving photo with a less than thrilled toddler!

We hit up Fashion Island on Black Friday to do some shopping and check out the decorations.

Their tree always gets me excited for Christmas!  ;)

We also got our first "successful" photo with Santa...the last two years were major fails, so I'll take this version!  Ethan wanted nothing to do with Santa though...thus his crouching next to us.

Friday night, I got to spend time with my best friends from high school...it's always so fun to catch up!

And we've all stayed in touch despite many moves, marriages and now pregnancies!

Every year, whether we're down for Thanksgiving or Christmas, we always see A Christmas Carol play.  It's been the same Scrooge for 35 years and is a really fun family tradition.

We always get dinner after, which is fun too!

All in all, it was a whirlwind of a weekend!  I always wish we had more time to see everyone and enjoy the nice weather, but so glad that we got down, despite me being 8 months pregnant!

I hope your week is off to a great start!
