Exterior Paint Color Help

Our house is in desperate need of a paint update.  The trim is peeling and the color is just...blah.

This is a picture from when we first bought the house...there are more plants now and the chimney has been removed, but not much else has changed:

I think I am done with the red door...I imagine a dark, craftsman style door, kind of like this:

And we would like to bring the roof out over the door, but that is probably a ways down the road.  So my question is...what color should we paint the house?  Our new windows are a beige/taupe which somewhat limits our options {ie, true gray is not really a choice}.

Here's what I'm thinking...

White:

Or...a beige gray {Sandy Hook is the color used below}:

And even though I said a true gray wouldn't work, I still love the look:

Clearly more work needs to be done, but I know a fresh coat of paint will help tremendously.  Any thoughts and recommendations are welcome!

  3. Oh, I loved the first image! The others are great as well but there's something about the color combination on that first house that just looked so pretty. :)

  9. Love the first image! We just had new windows installed on the front and sides of our home, so I am in the same boat. Trim color was a given-match the new aluminum clad windows, the shutter and door color-done, the siding...still testing!

  10. I want to always paint everything white so no surprise there! Your house would look so cute with an alcove above it and a porch! But why do that when you can build it next door!?

    1. This is true, but we'll probably be here for a couple more years, so I want to work on our curb appeal in the meantime!

  14. I think it would look fabulous with a green/grey. That is, a lighter grey color with a green undertone to bring out the beautiful wilderness you live in :)
