Stylishly Child Proofing Your Home + Baby Gate Giveaway!

Child proofing the home has come a LONG way since we were all babies.  Long ago are the days of zip-tied cabinet doors, foam furniture corners, and unsightly bathtub precautions.  In fact, child proofing can be fun and dare I say...stylish too!

But before I dive into the fun part, it's important that all moms review the Consumer Product Safety Commission's guidelines on baby proofing your home.  Also, sites like Scary Mommy and Parents.com have some great insight into getting the job done right.

Ok!  So here are my favorite tips for stylishly child proofing your home...

1. Making bath time safe has never been more stylish thanks to bright and colorful bath grips and a whale spout to cover the water spout!

2. Use hidden magnetic cabinet door locks...this is a miracle for cabinets!

3. Forget baby proofing corners....opt for a soft & cushiony ottoman instead!

4. Cover the electrical outlets...with automatic safety covers.

5. And last but not least...baby gates!  There are so many attractive options that will fit seamlessly into your home, like wood-tones and build-in options.  Definitely check out the options because...

You all have a chance to win a $50 gift card, which is just about the cost of a new baby gate!

Enter to win below and good luck!

Back to School Lunch with PlanetBox

It's hard to believe it's 'Back to School' time with fall around the corner {confession: fall is my favorite season of the year!}.  I love shopping for cute back to school clothes and gear...which is why I was super excited when PlanetBox reached out regarding their eco-friendly, stainless steel lunch box systems.  They're pretty much all the rage for kids and adults, so I was excited to give it a whirl.

We chose the Rover Box because of all the different compartments, but there are two other options available, depending on what you prefer, check them out here--they even make it easy to compare with a side-by-side lineup.

As you can see, the PlanetBox makes it almost fun to put a lunch together with all the different compartments.  You can see more healthy lunch ideas here.  I'm seriously considering getting one for me to take to work!

It came with this adorable case too, which I know Ethan will love for pre-school.

And fun, personalized magnets!  The best part about the Planetbox?  It's dishwasher safe!  Can I hear an amen!?

And while this is supposed to be for Ethan, Wyatt LOVED it and was helping himself to carrots, which is pretty cool!

Be sure to check out PlanetBox for your kids--you will love them, promise!!

Baby's Bedroom Routine Tips

Ahh the bedroom routine...otherwise known as the song + dance leading up to happy hour(s) for most of us!  Bedtime with two kids is no joke...and we still do it in two phases.  Wyatt goes down between 7-7:30pm, which for the record, is about an hour earlier than we ever put Ethan down.  Ethan goes to bed between 8-8:30pm, so it is about a two hour routine every night!

After dinner, we usually try to give the boys a bath...though, lately, Ethan prefers to shower with us.

It's kind of hard to see here, but both our boys have suffered from bouts of eczema that flares up at bath time.  We try to give a bath every other night--but you know how it goes with boys!  More on our solution below.

After bath time, I get Wyatt dressed in his jammies and then we have some quiet time in his room...

Soft, cozy pajamas are super important and we were recently introduced to Softsie, an amazing brand of pajamas that is incredibly soft and they're infused with aloe, jojoba oil and vitamin E to soothe baby's skin.  This has been a life savor for Wyatt...his eczema has definitely cleared up since he started wearing these.  Definitely check them out if your baby has had similar issues, or you are just on the hunt for cozy PJs.  There are two patterns, the mint and black + white pendant...adorable!

Wyatt loves to read before bedtime {normally it's me reading to him!}.  He loves all the touch and feel books...his favorite is Pat the Bunny.

Afterwards, he'll drink a bottle and then we brush his teeth...

And then right as we're about to go down for bed...

He'll usually want to rough house with his brother and dad...typical!

A couple additional tips for bedtime...

+ We use a white sound machine {pictured above}
+ He still sleeps in a sleep sack
+ He LOVES his blankies

Even though it's quite the song and dance to get him to bed, we are really lucky that he sleeps through the night and typically wakes up after 7am.  Can't complain about that!

What are your tips and tricks for getting baby to sleep at night?

Lately

Life lately has been busy between birthday parties, learning to ride a bike, walking {LOTS of walking} and overall chaos that comes with two boys!  Wyatt will be 15 months tomorrow...and Ethan turns 4 in less than two months...time is FLYING!

We've had some fun birthday parties lately between ice skating, fun zone, and more!  Wyatt loves his accessories right now...whether it's hats or shoes, he is into it.

And I love this mirror....ha!  You can see more of our antics on Snapchat {schuelove}.  And you can buy these flattering jeans here...sorry, skinny mirror not included!  ;)

Ethan has been killing it on the Stryder bike lately, so we are trying to get him used to pedaling.  Hopefully he'll be riding sans training wheels in the coming weeks!

I got this cute new phone case during the Shopbop sale...absolutely LOVE it!

We booked a trip to New York...I've never been before and I am SO excited!  Any tips on where to stay or go...or most importantly, eat?  Please tell me!

Blue Apron has been back on their game lately and this pizza was definitely a hit!  We also recently signed up with SunBasket and like it as well.

Yesterday, Ethan and I went to our first movie together, Zootopia.  He did pretty well...though he had no concept of being quiet and when he wanted something, like oh say M&M's...he would lose his mind if I didn't have it.  Kind of embarrassing...so I coaxed him with froyo after!

Being a tourist in our own town...checking out the Heavenly gondola.

All in all--a successful day!

A couple things...

If you're looking for a great pair of baby or toddler shoes, definitely check out these.  Both our boys wear them and love them!

Just bought this for Wyatt and I think it is too cute for words!  And if I had a girl, I would definitely buy this and this...gah!

This is a super cute toy...both boys love them!  We love most of everything that B. Toys sells in fact!

Pillowfort Top Picks

Target launched their new kids decor line and it's super cute!  Think Land of Nod, but affordable!  Here are my favorite picks:

There are tons of themes...and a lot of them are gender neutral.

SO many cute things, right?  And it sounds like they will be introducing more furniture, like beds, soon too!

Hope you're having a great weekend!

Favorite Wooden Toys

I am loving the revival of wooden toys...there are so many options out there and I wanted to share some of our favorites.

Hape: I love Hape...we have the mini kitchen and several of the food items to go along with it, like this toaster and hamburger & hotdog set.  PS...pretty sure Pottery Barn Kids and Hape collaborated because this set is identical to the toaster I have, but the colors are more neutral.

Plan Toys: Plan Toys has super cute and colorful toys for babies and kids.

Le Toy Van: If you're looking for some unique options, check out this brand.  I love this tea dessert set...a must for little girls!

Fisher-Price Wooden for Target: Target recently introduced a new line from Fisher-Price...the toys are a combination of plastic and wood but really cute!  I also love this whale toy.

Grimm's: Classic and solid toys...these are the real deal!  How adorable are these peg dolls?

Little Sapling Toys: Etsy is filled with wooden toy options, but I especially love this shop.  The donut is super cute!

Janod: Another bright and colorful brand...I've heard their puzzles are great too!

An honorable mention should go to Melissa & Doug...I feel they are a bit over commercialized, but they do have a ton of wooden toys as well.

Are you into wooden toys for your tots?  What's your favorite brand?

Wyatt's Nursery

It only took a full year, but Wyatt's nursery is finally ready to be revealed.  This room was formerly Ethan's {you can check out his nursery here...seeing it now makes me so nostalgic!}.

With Ethan, I planned for a bright and whimsical nursery.  With Wyatt, I wanted something a bit more rugged, though still whimsical!  I think I was able to pull it off...it's white, bright and modern too.  I really love it.

Hope you enjoy!

I tried to link up to all the sources, but let me know if I missed something!
