Wyatt's Nursery

It only took a full year, but Wyatt's nursery is finally ready to be revealed.  This room was formerly Ethan's {you can check out his nursery here...seeing it now makes me so nostalgic!}.

With Ethan, I planned for a bright and whimsical nursery.  With Wyatt, I wanted something a bit more rugged, though still whimsical!  I think I was able to pull it off...it's white, bright and modern too.  I really love it.

Hope you enjoy!

I tried to link up to all the sources, but let me know if I missed something!

Big Boy Room + Nursery Update

It's been a little while since I updated you on Ethan's big boy room progress and Wyatt's nursery progress.  I last left you with this post and have since made the following progress:

We painted the walls Serious Gray by Sherwin Williams.  Ryan added crown molding, which really make the walls pop and we switched out the light fixture for this more masculine one from Lowe's for a steal.  It looks a lot like one from Restoration Hardware, but for a fraction of the price.  #winning

Ryan installed book ledges from Home Depot.  They were in the length we needed.  Check out Ikea for a much cheaper option.

We moved the curtains over from Ethan's room. You can see the DIY curtain rod project here.  Also, the curtains are actually shower curtains from West Elm...we just added an orange border at the bottom.

Finally, and most exciting, is that Ethan's big boy bed from Land of Nod arrived.  It's the Jenny Lind and the quality is top notch.  We also got the sheets and comforter from Land of Nod as well.  The blanket is from Spearmint Love.

Here's where the checklist stands:

Add new banner, deer head and "E" over bed. I'm now thinking that his bed might tuck away in the above right corner...thoughts?
Install reading light over bed
Move over striped curtains from nursery
Add book ledges to right of window
Move over dresser and map from nursery
Finalize bedding {I have this, this and this}
Figure out/buy a ceiling fixture
Also, if we tuck the bed in the corner...I probably will want an area rug.

Ethan is still sleeping in his crib in the nursery, which has somewhat delayed my motivation in working on the nursery.  This weekend, we plan to try and have Ethan nap in his big boy bed and move over more of his decor to make it feel more like his room.  He LOVES his room so far and we try to read books in his big boy bed and get him used to it, but for now, he still prefers his crib.

Here's the latest on the nursery:

I purchases a vintage Kilim pillow off an Etsy store called Mister Pillow.  Wyatt's nursery is going to be pretty neutral, so I think this adds a fun pop of color.  I also bought this gorgeous mirror from School House Electric and plan to hand this fun dream catcher.

Last, we added legs to my Craigslist dresser and plan to stain the legs to match the dresser.  It adds the perfect height to the dresser, while also modernizing it slightly.  The little footstool was a score from Target, but you can find a similar option here.

This is where the checklist stands:

Buy new pillow...looking for a kilim style.
Move bamboo curtains over from guest bedroom.
Move in dresser
Add legs to dresser...after moving the dresser into the room, it's only about 25.5 inches tall...we definitely need to add legs. Any ideas on where to find some good ones? I'm thinking 6 inches should do the trick.
Move map to Ethan's room
Hang buffalo print over crib
Move deer and "E" to Ethan's room
Add book ledges adjacent to crib
Buy brass floor lamp {considering this one}
Figure out what the do with the gallery wall...planning to add the Yard Bombed antlers and some other prints.

So there you have it!  An official update!  If you have any fun ideas on an area rug for Ethan's room {or if I even need one} and gallery wall options for the nursery, that would be great!

Also, I am thinking of selling the custom bedding that I had made for Ethan's crib in his nursery.  There are two sheets and the crib skirt.  Email me or comment below if you're interested!

Nursery + Big Boy Room Checklists

My due date is almost a month away {January 19th!} and I have barely made a dent on the nursery and Ethan's big boy room...eek!

I put together this inspiration board for the nursery and have acquired some things...but there's still a lot left to do!  I think I will keep the walls gray, since they're pretty light and neutral.  Here is a list of the rest of what I have left to do...

Buy new pillow...looking for a kilim style.
Move bamboo curtains over from guest bedroom.
Move in dresser
Add legs to dresser...after moving the dresser into the room, it's only about 25.5 inches tall...we definitely need to add legs.  Any ideas on where to find some good ones?  I'm thinking 6 inches should do the trick.
Move map to Ethan's room
Hang buffalo print over crib
Move deer and "E" to Ethan's room
Add book ledges adjacent to crib
Buy brass floor lamp {considering this one}
Figure out what the do with the gallery wall...planning to add the Yard Bombed antlers and some other prints.

Ethan will be taking over the guest bedroom.

First things first, I need to figure out what color walls to paint the room.  This is the inspiration board.  I'm thinking a dark gray, or maybe just a bright white...but feel free to make any suggestions.

Buy bed {still waiting for it to get here...}
Add new banner, deer head and "E" over bed.  I'm now thinking that his bed might tuck away in the above right corner...thoughts?
Decide on bedside tables/lamps--may not need to do this if I tuck the bed in the corner.
Move over striped curtains from nursery
Add book ledges to right of window
Move over dresser and map from nursery
Finalize bedding {I have this, this and this}
Figure out/buy a ceiling fixture
Also, if we tuck the bed in the corner...I probably will want an area rug.

So that's where we stand.  I would love your suggestions on some of the items above.  Feel free to comment below or email me!

Baby #2 Nursery Design Board

Since finding out that we're having a boy, my ideas have changed on what I want for his nursery.  You last saw this gender neutral board here, but since then I've been much more drawn to somewhat of a mid-century modern, eclectic and almost "western" theme, if you can call it that.

We already had the crib, rocker, and mobile, but it's this american buffalo print from The Animal Shop that has me pretty much obsessed with going in this direction.  I wish we could afford to buy a big one for over the crib, but at $3,500 for the 30"x40", it's just not going to happen!  So I settled on the small version and also just commissioned the amazing Yarn Bombed store to make these kick-ass antlers.

Are you seeing a theme yet?

We bought this shag rug and I just kicking myself for not getting the above faux fur stool from Target {though I am considering this similar option}.  Next, I need to find a cool kilim pillow and brass fixture to match our new...

dresser!!  Ain't she a beaut?  We found her on Craigslist and I am positive we will keep the natural wood color and the brass hardware, but I am thinking about adding some legs/feet to the bottom to give it more of a mid-century look.  Thoughts?

So that's where we stand with the nursery...I am getting more and more excited about putting the plans into place.  But first, I need to move Ethan over to his big-boy room!

Nursery // Finding the Perfect Dresser

My due date is less than three months away and I have barely scratched the surface on getting the nursery designed.  In my defense, Ethan's big boy bed won't arrive until late November, so that has definitely stalled things out.  But in the meantime, I know that getting the design underway for Baby #2 will help motivate me to get things going.

I'm planning to move Ethan's Ikea dresser to his new room, which means that I need something new for the nursery.  I'm really drawn to the mid-century modern look and would love to add some wood tones to the nursery.  I'll be using the same crib, which has a wood base.

Here are some of the dressers I've been eying:

I LOVE this West Elm dresser, but don't love the price.  Plus, I'm not sure that I need something this big.  I'm thinking if I get a smaller dresser, I can move the rocking chair to the corner that opens up by having more room.

The smaller version would be great, but is still pretty pricey.

Target has a similar option, but it doesn't get the best reviews.  Nor does its larger version, which is too bad because they really are spot on.

Dwell Studio makes a cute version, but again, it's more pricey than I want to spend.

Last, is this little number from Overstock.  It's a little smaller than I might like, but it fits the bill otherwise.

What do you think?  Is it worth splurging or saving?  Have you seen any other similar options out on the market that I've missed?

I'd love your feedback!

PS...Happy Birthday Mom!

Gender Neutral Nursery

A little while back, I started dreaming up the next nursery.  With Ethan, I chose lots of color and pattern for his nursery.  This time around, I think I want to go with something a little different.  Regardless of the sex, I think black and white is really fun and graphic.

Of course, I am sure once we know, I'll change my mind again, but for the moment, I really love this look.  Several of these items are no longer in stock {like I said, I put this together several months ago}, but here is a breakdown of the items in the board above:

I think if it were for a boy, I would switch out the gold for this, this and this.

What do you think?
