Baby #2 Nursery Design Board

Since finding out that we're having a boy, my ideas have changed on what I want for his nursery.  You last saw this gender neutral board here, but since then I've been much more drawn to somewhat of a mid-century modern, eclectic and almost "western" theme, if you can call it that.

We already had the crib, rocker, and mobile, but it's this american buffalo print from The Animal Shop that has me pretty much obsessed with going in this direction.  I wish we could afford to buy a big one for over the crib, but at $3,500 for the 30"x40", it's just not going to happen!  So I settled on the small version and also just commissioned the amazing Yarn Bombed store to make these kick-ass antlers.

Are you seeing a theme yet?

We bought this shag rug and I just kicking myself for not getting the above faux fur stool from Target {though I am considering this similar option}.  Next, I need to find a cool kilim pillow and brass fixture to match our new...

dresser!!  Ain't she a beaut?  We found her on Craigslist and I am positive we will keep the natural wood color and the brass hardware, but I am thinking about adding some legs/feet to the bottom to give it more of a mid-century look.  Thoughts?

So that's where we stand with the nursery...I am getting more and more excited about putting the plans into place.  But first, I need to move Ethan over to his big-boy room!

  3. Ooh I really like it!! PS I think you'll need some super sturdy legs for that dresser. IMO it is perfect as is - it is almost a campaign dresser and I wouldn't mess with that!

  6. I love this concept! We are doing antlers in the baby's room too and I think the yarn bombed idea is so fun! Except the antler's we're using are ones from a deer that my dad shot and my grandpa actually was the one who did the mounting, so I love that it's meaningful...but it also means that there is no way my dad/Cam would let me put yarn on them unfortunately...ha! But I'm excited for you guys to come and I'm hoping you might be able to give us some nursery input - we are struggling over some last minute decisions, and so I need your expertise! :)

  7. That dresser is STUNNING, and I love the whole vision of the room! I can't wait to see it all come together! Personally, I don't think the dresser needs legs, but if it makes it a better height for diaper changes, do it!!!

  8. I love that you incorporated the buffalo from the Animal Print Shop. Their entire line is gorgeous, and this one in particular fits with your new theme so beautifully.

I'm pretty much drooling all over my keyboard at the dresser. What an awesome find!
