Modern Baby Nursery

A very dear friend of mine asked me to help her design a modern and chic nursery for her baby girl Ryan, who is due in July.  Of course, I was thrilled to be asked and happy to help her.

She recently painted the walls brown and has white trim and closet doors.  Her vision is white nursery furniture and she likes the idea of gray and purple accents with ruffles and a shabby chic feel.  She wanted a mature feeling that the baby could grow into.

Knowing Mama's already sophisticated taste, I wanted to compliment the rest of the house, by making Baby Ryan's special.  This is what I came up with:

I wanted to incorporate the shabby chic elements of the white furniture and delicate chandelier, but I had ton a of fun incorporating the modern elements, such as the fun lamp and graphic pillows...plus, you know you know I love a great furry pillow.  In order to tie in the brown, I brought in the zebra inspired rug which will evolve with Baby Ryan through all her years at home.  My favorite print in the room is this West Elm chair...absolutely loving this print and feel it's whimsy enough for baby but able to grow into something more mature down the line.

And just for a little extra touch, I would love to incorporate a cute print like this:

So what do you think?  Do you think Mama and Baby Ryan will approve?

I'm especially happy to show off this space during cornflake dreams blog crawl:

Be sure to check it out!

  7. Can you plan my nursery in 3 to 5 years!? Just saying...this was INCREDIBLE. I love the soft color palette and not trying to overtly scream little baby. Great job, my dear! Happy weekend! xoxo {av}

  12. I agree with all the other comments, this is absolutely beautiful! I love your mood board. For a great dresser, I've seen a very cute option that looks just like this at Ikea. Not sure if it has to be a budget dresser or not, but just an idea...
