Golden Globes: My Favorite Looks

Oh how I love award season!  So many beautiful dresses {and some unfortunate ones too!}, baubles and accessories.  I especially love the Golden Globes, since it encompasses movies and television.  I could not have been more happy that Breaking Bad got best series and Bryan Cranston got Best Actor.  Very well deserved!

Below are my favorite looks from the night...

Cate Blanchett...I think this was my favorite look of the night.  The back of this Armani Prive dress is pure perfection and I thought her hair, makeup and jewelry were spot on!

Sofia Vergara...la la la loved the necklace!

Amy Poehler...I actually thought she looked stunning!  A little sassy and a lot of sexy!  Way to go Amy!

Kate Beckinsale...seriously, what's not to love here?

Amy Adams...I kind of went back and forth on this one.  I initially saw this and loved it and then I thought the deep plunging neckline with the dangling necklace was a little much and I'm not crazy about her hair.  But love it or hate it, it's a stunning look!

And my not-so-favorite looks...

Zoe Saldana...I just didn't understand this.  Looked cheap and sloppy to me!

Sandra Bullock...this looked so elementary for her.  Would have been more suitable for a tween.

Julia Roberts...I adore her, but really?!  What was she thinking with this business on top business?  If she had gotten rid of the blouse, it would have been perfection.

And last, an honorable mention goes to Olivia Wilde...

Her hair was stunning and of course I adore her baby bump!!

What did you think of all of the dresses?  Who were your favorites?!

My Favorite Looks: Emmy Awards

I thought Sunday night's Emmy Awards was actually one of the best in a while, but I was pretty underwhelmed by the dresses on the red carpet.  Here would be my top five, in no particular order:

Only a dancer like Julianne Hough could get away with this dress, but I thought she looked beautiful.

Sofia Vergara looked stunning in Vera Wang.

Claire Danes dress does not photograph well but it was really gorgeous on camera.  I'm just not sure it was the best cut for her on top.

Malin Akerman's dress was another stunner on camera.  I absolutely love all of the texture and the pale blue.

But I think the men really stole the show this year...I mean, how much do you love these two?  And I'm so happy Breaking Bad won for Best Drama.  I can hardly contain my excited over the series finale THIS Sunday!  Ahhh!!!

Did you watch the show on Sunday?  Any looks I'm missing?!

Fall is Here...and an Emmy Recap

Happy Fall Ya'll!

Ok, you know I had to go there...if only I was truly southern!  ;)

I feel like we can officially talk about fall, now that it's here.  Bring on the pumpkin spiced lattes, cozy sweaters, changing of the trees, holidays...oh yes, and fall television!  Speaking of TV, did you watch the Emmy's last night?

99.9% of why I tune into the award shows is to see what everyone is wearing...obviously!  But I especially like the Emmy's, since TV is about that only thing I can watch right now {no movies for us since Baby Schue arrived!}.  I love Downton Abbey, Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire though I was bummed that Glee and True Blood were snubbed this year...especially because Lea Michelle and Anna Paquin are two of my favorite actresses.

And apparently we need to get into Modern Family and Homeland since they both won big time this year!

So onto the fashion...I wasn't overly blown away by any of the looks this year.  I mean, I barely recognized January Jones:

Anybody else??
I thought she looked way better back in 2009.

I do love Jessica Pare though...she's just so elegant.  Way to represent for the Mad Men cast!

And I thought Claire Danes was just glowing...gotta give props to her and her baby bump!  ;)

I also loved Zooey Deschanel's dress...it was light and feminine, yet sophisticated, which was nice to see from her.

Unfortunately, I thought Kristen Wiig was one of the worst dressed of the night.  I actually like the dress on its own, but it completely washed her out and really did nothing for her.  Plus her hair just looked thrown together at the last minute.  Not a fan of the look...love her though!

I will give a special shout-out to Sofia Vergara.  Though her look was a little mermaid-esque, she totally rocked it and of course, she's just radiating inside and out!

Really though...there weren't any big stand outs on the red carpet and I was bummed that more of "my shows" didn't win big last night.  Guess I'll just have to start getting excited for the next season of Downton Abbey to premiere!  ;)

Did you watch last night?  What did you think?

Falling...Falling...FALL!

Welp!  Fall is officially on Friday...can you hardly believe it?!  I know I can't!  I've made a couple little changes around the house in anticipation of the season...it's only the beginning!

I'm a sucker for tiny pumpkins and gourds!

 Our fall mantel!

White pumpkins and branches make a fall setting.

Still loving mercury glass...are you?

Ummm...I am also very excited that Glee came back into my life last night!  Of course, the Emmy's were scheduled perfectly!  It was fun seeing all my favorite Glee stars shine on the red carpet.

{even though she's not a regular...I will always cherish Gywn's performance on Glee!}

So tell me...are you ready for fall?  Did you watch Glee last night?!

Oscar Recap!

Happy Monday lovies!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  Our Oscar Party was so much fun last night...and of course I was THRILLED to see Mila Kunis wear the gorgeous lilac Elie Saab dress that I blogged about here!

I was literally showing my dress picks to my girlfriends last night and then low and behold...there Mila was wearing this beauty!  Doesn't she just look stunning???

Everyone brought an appetizer or two to share at the party.  My contribution was Ina Garten's Savory Palmiers.

These are comprised of puff pastry and then a filling of pesto, goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes and pine nuts!  Working with puff pastry is VERY easy...but the end result is quite elegant.  Your guests will think you spent hours prepping and making these appetizers, when in fact it only takes about 10 minutes.

For dessert, I followed a recipe from a fellow blogger Homemade by Homan.  The Snicker Cupcakes were a huge hit!

I used a dark chocolate cocoa powder and poured the caramel on top (instead of on the inside).  These were the perfect balance of rich chocolate decadence...and the caramel wasn't bad either!

Of course no Oscar Party is complete without some champagne!!!

We had a lot of great food, great drinks, great company...and we all placed bets on who would win in each category!  I'm sad that the Awards Season is over now!  I definitely need to go watch the King's Speech..stat!

Check back tomorrow for some fun and exciting news...someone {it's me!} just won her first giveaway!  Details tomorrow!

Oscar Glamour!

I've noticed a lot of fun posts on Oscar Fashion and what we would all wear, if were cool enough to go!  So, in looking around at all the beautiful fashion out on the spring runways...I came across Elie Saab!  I am just obsessed with his spring collection...all of the dresses are GORG!  Take a look:

I love this blush pink...the above image especially reminds me of the dress Angelina wore at the Golden's, but this looks much more demure and rich.

The texture on this dress is to die for.

I love how colorful and whimsical this dress is...very fun!

This lilac color is subtle, but the lace and cutouts makes it a real crowd pleaser.

This crystal gray color is gorgeous...it has a similar look/feel to a dress Cameron Diaz wore awhile back.

This color is definitely different, but I can't help but love the cut of this dress and how it's sheer in places.

I. DIE. over this dress...the color is stunning!

Sometimes a short number can be pulled off...this has a "Mad Men" feel to it!

There were SO many black dresses to choose from in this collection, but this one has it all for me...texture, lace, ruffle, a little sparkle...and of course, I love that it is slightly sheer.  Just lovely!

To see the entire Elie Saab collection, go here.

And I couldn't end this fantasy shopping spree without a pair of shoes, clutch and jewelery:

I love the look of these Giuseppe Zanotti strappy sandals...they're elegant and not too distracting for the dress.

I love the look of this Marchesa crystal encrusted clutch.

These Bulgari beauties have a little bit of everything...diamonds, rubies, turquoise, and emeralds!  They would be show stoppers on their own.

Siiiiiighhh!  If only we were actually going!  :)

We're having a little Oscar Party on Sunday...can't wait to see what everyone wears!
