Baby Ethan: Week 16

Weight: Not sure, but he should be 12+ pounds now.

Health: We think Ethan had a little cold this past week.  He had a runny nose, little cough and raspy voice.  It didn't seem to impact him too much, but I've gotten friendly with the syringe.  I even thought about breaking out the Nosefrida!

Sleep: I feel like we've officially digressed in this section.  While Ethan sleeps ok, he is now getting up at 4am to feed, no matter what time we put him down.  It's not too big of a deal, except I can't seem to get to bed before 11pm and lately the dog has decided he needs a 2am potty break.  No fun.  We're also swaddling Ethan with one arm out since he is starting to roll.  I need to buy a sleep sack stat!

Social: I'm adding social back in as I think it's taken on a new meaning...more of what we're up to as opposed to visitors.  We're officially done with wedding season, which is bittersweet!  Ethan did so well traveling and it was great to introduce him to more of our friends and family.  This past weekend, we had no plans, which was awesome!  We got together with family and took a Sunday stroll.  OH and we had his 3 month photos taken...cannot wait to see them!

Diet: 100% Mama's Milk.  Being back at work has definitely been an adjustment in this regard.  I pump 2x a day, while at work, and produce anywhere from 3-8+ ounces.  Since we have Ethan eating about 8 ounces when I'm at work, I'm finding that I need to make up the shortage on my days at home with him.  All good fun!
Clothes: Baby E still fits in 0-3 month onesies and other clothing, but he's officially in 3-6 month pj's.  We've also transitioned him to size 2 diapers.

Baby Gear Love: I recently bought him some new teethers and we got a chewbead neckalce as a gift, both of which he really enjoys.

Also!  Ethan is starting to like to stand {lock out his legs} more and more.  So we want to get him an exersaucer or jumperoo.  Any recommendations?

Crying: Poor little guy does not like having a stuffy nose {who does?!} and so he's been upset about that this past week.  But I'm still sticking by the fact that he is mild mannered...he's an easy going baby for the most part.

Likes: Ethan loves his blankies and has to have them right next to his face to fall asleep for naps.  He also still cracks up over my fake sneezing and recently, Wilson {our dog} was "talking" {aka friendly growl} and Ethan was just laughing a ton over that.  Best friends!  We also think he enjoys watching baseball {aka TV}.  Oops!  We need to buy some Baby Einsteins sooner than later!

Ethan is also becoming much more engaged with his activity mat.  It's crazy how much bigger he looks in there now, as compared to several weeks ago!

Postpartum: Nothing too new here...still losing too much hair and not enough baby weight.  ;)

Milestones:  Nothing too big this week, just getting stronger by the day!  We can hold him like a "big baby" which means he supports his head all on his own and prefers to peep over our shoulders when we walk around.  He's not a fan of being cradled like a baby, unless he's super tired.  This little guy wants to be in the action and not miss anything!

PS...I'm not sure if anyone else uses Google+ for photo editing but it looks like it's doing something funky to resize pictures therefore making them more pixelated.  Anyone else having this issue?

  1. Still so cute...Cam doesn't like being held like a baby anymore, either...he loves to be facing out and seeing all the action!! TV, iPhone, iPad...anything that has a light has his attention!! It's a great distraction sometimes :) We are still swaddling Cam - he's not even close to rolling yet! Thank goodness because he sleeps so well that I don't want to change a thing. We may just swaddle him until he's 5! Haha, just kidding ;)

  2. This post sounds like you are talking about my little girl. Ethan and Willow are going through the exact same things. Willow even wakes at the same time. Although Willow is a big girl and Ethan is petite. I love his huge smile, so sweet.

  3. Rainforest Jumperoo all the way! All the newer FP jumps dont have as high reviews and we got it for $75 from target online, new ones cost like $125. Highly recommend! (our exercauser, evenflow for BRU, blows in comparision)

I don't use google+, but my pictures are never as good as quality when I upload them to blogger. The resolution looks so much better before.

  11. Ahhhh! I adore him. He is so so precious. And so fun when they are "big babies" and you can hold them more easily. I love how you are documenting all of this.

  17. Love the updates! He is adorable! I recently realized Colson's attention gets captured by the TV when we were on a car ride and he would not calm down (it was dark out and I think it made him mad). I sat in the backseat and looked up Baby Einstein on my iphone (youtube app) and discovered youtube has about every baby einstein video in full length! He's only watched it a couple times for a couple minutes but it really helps when I have to do something quick and daddy gets stuck with a fussy boy. I wouldn't spend money on it (unless you will use it a lot!) because the variety on youtube is awesome :)

  18. Is it just me or do you also feel like these weeks are flying by? Every time I update Matthew's weekly photo, yours is up too when I check & I remember being pregnant at the same time 7 since you were ahead of me I always looked to get an idea of what may come (symptom wise). I really like those chew beads, I got the vulli alien looking one for when he starts chewing, & a couple refrigerator ones (or whatever they are called). He looks super tall :) Maybe a basketball player? ;) I got the combi walker, its also a jumper its so cute its a mini convertible car. But I also see a lot of people with the doorway johnny jumpers, & the rainforest jumperoos!!

  19. Oh my gosh Natasha! He's getting bigger and bigger! Sorry he had a little cold! Mila has one now...so annoying. And sometimes they regress around 4 months, super annoying, but take solace, it won't last.

  22. Do you have any friends that would let you try their exersaucer/jumperoo? Then you could see if Ethan liked it. We have a Baby Einstein jumperoo, but Campbell hated it at first because he couldn't touch the bottom even at the lowest level. Then we borrowed a friend's old school Evenflo model and he loved it! :) He came around on the BE once he could touch, but testing one out from a friend could be helpful before you make the big purchase.

Ethan is so cute... even when he's crying! :)

  23. What a cutie! It sounds like we're neck and neck with things right now. We just got a bouncer because our boy likes to stand also, but he's about 2 inches too short for it! And I'm right there with you on hair loss and baby weight. yuck.

  24. My goodness, he is one super handsome baby! And don't worry, you're not alone - Mac doesn't sleep well either. We're up at least 2x a night to feed him and then he usually wants to play for an hour or so in his crib before needing to be calmed down and rocked back to sleep. Ugh.

  26. He is so cute! I am really starting to see your husband in him!

I'm going to have to check out the chewbeads. Everything goes into Hayden's mouth!

He also LOVES having a blankie by his face at all times. He can't fall asleep without it!

I'm with you on the hair loss. It's ridiculous! I want to know when it's going to stop!
