40 Weeks: Oy vey!

Can I just say....that I never thought we would get to the 40 week post, but here I am!  My patience has definitely been tested these last few weeks, but I am excited there is an end in sight and that we get to meet our son so SO soon!

How far along? 40 weeks...5 days!  Oy vey!
Baby Size: A small pumpkin or a jackfruit.
Total weight gain: 29 pounds, but let's just call it 30 for getting back in shape post-baby!
Maternity clothes? Lately, I've been wearing workout/yoga clothes.  All of which are non-maternity.  I'm officially over it!  ;)
Stretch marks? I think I can safely say I got through this pregnancy sans stretch marks, BUT I am super worried that this will change once my milk comes in!
Sleep: Sleeping well...I am definitely lucky.
Best moment this week: Hmmm...probably my foot massage!  But in reality, I'm just waiting waiting waiting!
Miss Anything? I miss my due date!  Haha, does that count??
Movement: Still movin' and groovin'!
Food cravings: Still love anything refreshing...lemonade, fruit, ice cold water...
Anything making you queasy or sick: No...I even had raw onions on a sandwich the other night and they weren't so bad!
Gender: BOY!!
Labor Signs: Still no labor signs at my 40 week appointment, and I definitely cried!  It's very frustrating feeling like everything is in order but he's just not budging!  Definitely a stubborn little stinker!  And believe me, I've tried everything under the moon to help induce things naturally...going in for acupuncture this morning!
Symptoms: Lower cramping, swollen feet, having to pee every 5 minutes...the usual!
Belly Button in or out? Still at a halfie status...practically an outie now!
Wedding rings on or off? On
Mood: Definitely frustrated!  But I'm still relatively comfortable and can't complain about how I feel.  Just SOO ready to meet our little guy!
Looking forward to: Meeting our son!  We will be induced on Wednesday night if he doesn't decide to come between now and then.  Have any of you been induced?  How did it go?!?

In closing this chapter, I want to thank all of you for your love, support, and advice along this journey.  Being able to connect with so many mamas and friends here has made my pregnancy a truly amazing experience.  You've all kept me in check and I'm so pleased that I have a weekly recap of our pregnancy to look back on.  So THANK YOU!!!

In the coming days, I will be introducing you to some inspiring mamas and letting them share their motherhood experiences.  I'm so grateful that they've agreed to step in, while I'm spending quality time with baby and recovering...hope you enjoy!

  8. you are doing great, mama! i'm sure lots of women can relate to you right now...i for one, know EXACTLY how you feel! i was induced at this point, 5 days past my due date. in my experience, the induction process was not bad at all (and i'm sure there are different versions of this experience for many women) 12 hours after they started the pitocin, i was 10 cm and ready to push. i did have an epidural which helped me immensely...however, i had to push for 3 hours because Eli was transverse (and a 9lb baby). I ended up with an emergency c-section. looking back, i would not change a thing, and would do it all over again! if you do have to be induced you will do great!!! maybe he'll come before then! fingers crossed :) can't wait to "meet" this little guy. sending well wishes!

  18. Hi I am a new reader and I love your blog! Also, you look great! I had to be induced because my water broke and that was a hospital policy where I was delivering to prevent infection. I have nothing to compare it to but they say it makes the contractions more regular and more painful. It hurt like hell but after it was over I was all ready talking about having # 2 so I guess that says something!! Good luck!

  30. Ah you will meet him so soon Natasha! :) I'm going to work on my guest post for you today Natasha! :) I was induced with Mila. The contractions can get pretty intense with the induction, so I had my epidural pretty early on, which for me, was a life-saver. ;) Hugs!

  31. Ahh 40 weeks! He is definitely comfortable in there! I was induced, my dr actually said most women are induced now for their first baby, it was an easy process, long, but pretty easy. Just a lot of waiting. But every minute of waiting these last 40 weeks is so worth it the moment you hear that cry :) cherish these last few nights sleeping alone with your hubby. Will be praying for a safe delivery!

  35. I hope he comes soon! My sister just went to the hospital to be induced with her little girl in Austin. Her nursery is even a bit similar to yours. I'll have to send it to you...for something to do while you wait?! Ha.

  37. You are so close! When I got near the end I resorted to work out clothes too. My maternity clothes stopped fitting and I wasn't about to go out and buy more clothes for just a week or two. Congrats on no stretch marks either. I bet you will make it out without any. I wasn't so luck but they are hardly visible anymore... thankfully.

  38. You look so amazing and you will bounce back crazy fast! I hope the delivery goes well...enjoy every second of it!! You only get one first-born! :) xoxoxoxox

  39. I went into labor on my own but when I got to the hospital and relaxed a little bit, the labor slowed and they had to give me the pitocin anyway. I probably looked funny, but I just kept breathing and kicking my legs and before I knew it I was getting the epidural. You will do great. : )

  51. Hi Natasha,
I have been reading your Blog over the past couple of months and love catching up with you every day! So excited for you for your little man to arrive. I had to be induced with my first, which ended up in a c-section due to lack of progression. During your labour, just stay hydrated and try your hardest to get some sleep!!! Easier said than done, but when the time came for the c-section I had been up 30 hours on adrenalin and my mouth felt like the sahara. Good Luck!!!!
