Wyatt's Turns TWO + Birthday Party

I still can't believe I have a two year old again in my house...ho boy, we are in for it! But celebrating a birthday is always a good idea and we weren't about to skip out!

The morning of Wyatt's actual birthday, we surprised him with balloons in bed...

and a cupcake before bedtime! He loved both!

His birthday was this past Saturday, and thanks {or no thanks} to the recent storms we've been having, a good majority of his party decor and gifts did not ship to us in time, which sent me into a complete tailspin! I really feel like I pulled this party out of my ass, but glad we had this inspiration from Minted, by way of birthday invitation, to help me stay on track.

I literally ordered his month-by-month photos at our local CVS that morning. The ones I had ordered online didn't make it, but I was so happy that we had this solution. The banner is from the $1 section at Target.

Thankfully, his cake topper bunting from ReadyGo, did make it and totally completed our {store-bought} cake!

The darling backdrop I ordered didn't make it either, so thanks to K-Mart's 70% off Christmas clearance, I made this tinsel work instead!

And really, what can't a couple balloons and Star Wars not cure?

I know this party was more about me than Wyatt...he was just so thrilled to have all of his little friends there and there was plenty of good food and company to make it a successful event!

I can't believe how quickly this last year has flown by...and I REALLY can't believe we have two, full-fledged toddlers in the house. Wyatt starts pre-school on Tuesday...halp!

Wyatt's TWO Year Old Birthday Details

Wyatt turns TWO tomorrow and we're having a little party for him this weekend. Winter babies are HARD to plan for, especially when it's AFTER the holidays and there is TONS of snow! I am sure he will grow to love having a winter party, where he can ski or sled with friends, but for now, we're homebound for the party.

When I saw these adorable invitations on Minted, I knew we could put something festive together! I love Minted because they have so many cute options and in this case, we ordered the matching Thank You cards too!

To keep the theme going, we were fortunate enough to receive the most darling cake topper bunting from Ready Go Wedding Co. We also received these super cute mini party hats and party favor envelopes from EventEphemera. I can't wait to create the party around these special elements and want to give a huge shoutout to the owners for helping me shape the party. Etsy is the best!

Last, I got some fairy lights from Target and a simple banner to tie it all together. I printed some Instagram photos from Wyatt's last year and will hang them with mini clothespin along the mantel. There will be some yummy food and drinks and the kids will run amok around the house...oh joy!

Can't wait to share more after the party this weekend!

Wyatt Turns 2! A Gift Guide

Wyatt turns TWO this Thursday and I can hardly believe it. Even though his birthday is a mere 18 days after Christmas, it doesn't mean we aren't going to celebrate! If anyone knows about birthdays and Christmas--it's me! My birthday is the day after Christmas and I remember how important it was to have a separate celebration.

Above are some ideas I have for Wyatt's birthday. Being a winter baby, he could definitely use some new snow gear. He's really into colors and puppies right now, so some new books and stuffed animals are definitely in order. Last, our little play kitchen has a blown-out door and it has me dreaming of a new play kitchen--this one is SO pretty and yet masculine, which is perfect for our little chefs.

I'll be sharing some birthday party inspiration later this week! Happy Monday!

Ethan's Two Year Photos

Hi Friends and Happy Friday!

I'm so pleased to share Ethan's two year photos, taken by my dear friend Darcy of Artyard Photography.  As always, Darcy was able to capture some sweet moments, even despite a bad hair day and some toddler tantrums.  I hope you enjoy!  :)

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Ethan Turns Two // The Party Details

I'm so happy with how Ethan's 2nd birthday came together!  Though I'm sure he did not appreciate the theme nearly as much as I did...it was fun to see him enjoy all the different activities set up around the yard and play with his friends.  Oh!  And in case you want to know what his invitations look like, you can see them here.

I made the Fishing Hole sign and found the fishing toys at Rite Aid of all places!

The drink station

 Bug nets found at Target

The camp setup

I made the wreath with some items from Michael's.

DIY s'more party favors...it says "THANKS FOR MAKING MY PARTY S'MORE FUN!"

The camp blanket is from Target's new line Poppytalk!  All of their stuff would be super cute for a girl glamping themed party!

And of course, no party would be complete without showing some of the kids in action.

Anxiously waiting for the cake to arrive!

Ethan loved having Happy Birthday sung to him.

And right on cute, he knew when to blow out the candles!

I hope you all enjoy the pictures as much as I do...let me know if I missed out on any details!  ;)

Ethan Turns Two // Campout Food

In an attempt to revive my Tasty Tuesday--aka food posts, I thought I would give you the details on the food we served at Ethan's second birthday party.  I had fun pulling together a camp theme and everyone seemed to really enjoy the food.

A fun snack for the kiddos...we made "mud pies" which is essentially chocolate pudding, crushed oreo and gummy worms on top.  They were a big hit!

I saw the "Don't feed the bears" idea on Pinterest.  The "bears" are Teddy Grahams.

Ants on a log were a natural "healthy" choice to serve as a snack.

Pigs in a Blanket...or kiddos in a sleeping bag!  They made for tasty little morsels.

I should also add that we had a pasta salad, watermelon, homemade focaccia, and BBQ chicken sliders.  Everyone raved about the sliders.  Seriously, just throw some raw chicken breasts and BBQ sauce in a slow cooker for 4 hours, and voila!  Your friends will love it!

"Bug Juice" was a must for the camp theme.  And of course, vino for the adults.

And last...the cake.  Now...I will admit, I had the cake made.  I just did not have time to make one from scratch.  BUT the topping was all me.  The logs are Pirouette Rolled Wafers and the flames are melted cinnamon and butterscotch hard candies.  My one mistake was buying the "cream butterscotch" candies and not the yellow kind.  Oops!  It still turned out ok, I think!  ;)

We had a lot of fun pulling all the food together.  I believe that part of what makes a great party is the great food {and beverage!}.

I'll be back later this week with more party details!
