Baby Ethan: Week 50

Say whaaaat?!  50 whole weeks, how is that possible?  I swear, this year has FLOWN by.  This time last year, I was doing everything humanly possible to get Ethan to make his debut.  But I was also enjoying my last days as just husband and wife and getting outside as much as possible.  It's crazy how much has changed in a year!

Here I am, a little over a year ago, hiking my butt off in hopes of inducing labor!

And here Ethan is today, 50 weeks old...just 2 weeks shy of turning a year old.  Cue the tears!

Weight: Over 20 pounds.

Health: Healthy except for lots of drool lately which I attribute to his teething.  And a little runny nose as well.

Sleep: I'd still like to think E sleeps through the night, but it's really hit or miss, especially with our recent heat wave.  I swear he's too hot at night!  But we don't want to leave the window open for fear of freezing him out and we don't have A/C here.  So each night it's a new adventure.

The other night he had an excessive amount of pee and was soaked when he starting crying at 5am. We felt awful!  But, he does seem to sleep better when he's eaten a lot of solids during the day, had a good volume of formula, and has regular naps.  A lot of that can't be helped since he's with other people during the work week.  So on we go.

Social: Still a social little butterfly!  We had a graduation party this past weekend and Ethan got to hang out with a bunch of kids that were about a year or so older than him.  They were all running around in the yard and E just sat there, mesmerized by them.  He can't wait to join the pack!

Diet: Lots of berries, cheerios, shredded chicken, and guacamole!

Clothes: Getting more and more into 12 month clothing.  Still looks like size 2 shoes...maybe 3?

Baby Gear Love: Still loving his snack catcher and we just set up his IKEA table and he loves it!  He rolls his cars back and forth and sits at the table like a little gentleman!

Crying: Let's see...when he's tired/cranky, when we try to change his diaper or put him in his car seat, when he wakes up in the middle of the night drenched in his own pee, or when we take something away from him that he's playing with.  But really...he's a mellow child.  Honest!

Likes: He likes all things he's not supposed to play with, like USB cables, the dog's water bowl, the dirt in the potted plants, the shelves and stairs.  Really, we need to child proof like yesterday.

Postpartum: Cutting out carbs, sweets, and wine when I can.  It seems to be working!

Milestones: This is not really a milestone, but E has pooped in the bathtub, not once, but TWICE now!  It's so gross.  What else, OH YES!  He's standing on his own now.  Not for very long, but he's getting better at balancing himself more and more.  Very exciting!!  ;)

  4. Love reading these since Sophia is right behind him, he is so cute! Can't believe how quickly time flies!! Have you heard of My Fitness Pal? They have a free app for it, and it tracks your daily calories (super user friendly). I have a hard time losing actual lbs, but I started using it last week (1200 cals a day), and have dropped 4 lbs. So I'm recommending it to any mamas looking to maintain! :) xo

  11. It kills me how everything is so interesting to them. I want K to explore and learn, but don't want him to get hurt either. I can't believe they'll be a year soon!

  21. Love those blue and white check shorts! Somehow we've dodged the "poop in the tub" bullet except for once when he was a tiny newborn!
