Ikea Haul

Hi Friends and Happy Monday!

How was your weekend?  We took an impromptu trip to Ikea, which may sound like an average weekend, but our closest Ikea is about 2 hours away, so it was definitely a big deal.  It all started on Saturday morning when I realized we needed to do away with our beloved bar car {at least for the time being} and replace it with something more functional.  I mentioned a couple weeks ago that our dining room has become a makeshift playroom.  So it only seemed natural that the Expedit shelf should replace the bar cart area.

And from there...things got a teensy bit out of control.  You see, if you give a girl a Expedit shelf...she's probably going to need a to but the Mongstad Mirror she's had her eye on for awhile!

And since I'm adding something new to the master, I'll probably need to finally buy a new white duvet too.  From there, I had to pick up this cute striped throw blanket...for picnics out or play dates in.

And of course, no playroom is complete without a cute table and chairs...or these play cars...or this alligator bath mat.

All in all, I would say it was a pretty successful shopping haul.  I honestly can't get over how many great things are there...I always come out with more than I was planning on, and I justify it with the fact that we live so far away.  I just love me some Ikea.  Have you had any great finds there lately?

I'll share some updates on what I've done with these pieces later this week.

Have a great week!

  2. expedits are addicting! Definitely the best product they have, but it looks like you got all the must have staples!! I really need to get back to ours to pick up some more frames, but I know if I go I'll end up buying way more - always do!

  3. We have an expedit and it's awesome! I have 2 Ikeas really close- but I try not to go too often and make my trips worth while. It's so easy to go in for 1 thing and come out with 5!

  5. Great haul! I live 30m drive from Ikea which is DANGEROUS! The husband has banned me from going haha. I do actually need to go for some small things (bath mats etc) but I know I will come out with everything else they sell too!

PS. I love that mirror too!

  7. That's funny! We have an IKEA about 10 minutes away and we were just there yesterday. I even said that every time we come, we spend so much money - beacause we NEVER go - it's always too crowded! Yesterday, we hauled a bunch of random stuff (only went in to look for the Ribba picture ledges and some Nyttja frames. Last time - it was the Expidet!

  12. We always spend a bunch at ikea when we go to. I have to remind my husband that it would have cost way more if we got the same amount of stuff somewhere else! Can't wait to see how you style the expedit! I could use some ideas for the ones we have!

  13. We just went to Ikea yesterday! Our closest is 6 hours away so I had to make our trip worth it! I got new rugs, a boat load of baby loot, kitchen stuff and tons of other things I probably didn't need. Oh well, it was well worth it! Love your Ikea finds!

  19. Good stuff! The closet one to us used to be 6 hours away, but now we live 30 minutes away. Kind of a problem because I can't stay away! I made a big Ikea mistake my last trip. I went by myself with a baby and 4 year old in tow. The shopping went amazing and no one melted down, but a problem arose when I left the store realizing they don't let you take your cart out to the parking lot. Mine was loaded. Frick, frick, double frick!!! It's amazing how much you can carry when you have no other choice. I'll equate it to those mothers who can lift up a car if there child is underneath. There was no way I was leaving my purchases behind :D

  22. hahhaha good choices! The expedit is on my list for my move -- it's so necessary if you have kids. I think I need to give up my dreams of a contemporary chic home and make sure that it spacious and comfy for my son -- I would hate to spend a gaziliion dollars on a suede couch only for it to be ruined by an infant/toddler. le sigh.

  23. i want that expedit bookcase BAD!!!! we are going to have to convert our family room into a playroom sooner than later and i think that piece might be a perfect addition, too--so functional and the price is right, too.

cannot wait to see all these goodies in their new home ;)

  27. Oh, Ikea is a very dangerous place! Not only can I spend *quite* a while in there, I always come out with more than I planned...it's a trap, I tell you!!! (c; Especially when you can just drop the kiddos off and shop kid-free...danger zone!!!

  28. Awesome haul! I went to Ikea with a girlfriend a few weeks ago and we made out like bandits! The only problem is I never have any self control when I go because ours is also over a 2 hr. drive. Might as well get it all while I'm there! ;)
