Thoughts for Thursday

I'm slowly, but surely, making my way back into the blogging world...as in, writing on topics other than motherhood and the cutest little baby around.  ;)  Of course, I will still talk on these topics {naturally!} but it's high time we explore other topics, yes?

Here's what I'm digging right now:

Have you heard of BB Cream?  I saw a segment on the Today Show several weeks ago and was intrigued.  This is a "new" kind of makeup, different from foundation or tinted moisturizer.  It started in Asia and has recently taken off in the states due to it's multiple purposes, like SPF, moisturizing, tinting, blemish contro, etc.  I wanted to try a cheap version, like this one by Maybelline, to see if it was worth all the fuss, and guess what?  I really think it is!  Especially for a mom on the go, like me, it's awesome and easy!  I definitely plan to invest in the Bobbi Brown version stat!

Remember the rage over the coveted Zara pump {no longer in stock}?  Well, Aldo just came out with a similar looking heel and the cost is pretty great too!  I think they're the "it" heel for the fall.

Ummmm, does anyone else have an unhealthy obsession with Downton Abbey?  I feel like I've been hiding under a rock...I la-la-LOVE this show and can't get enough!!!  I burned my way through two seasons in a week.  And I'm already dying for season three to get here {I'll have to wait until January...wah wahhh}.

I mean...hellooooo Mr. Pamuk!  ;)

I feel like I missed the whole colored jean boat with being pregnant these last 9+ months.  So I am very happy that the trend seems to continue through the fall.  I'm in love with this emerald green pair and they're on sale right now on Piperlime.  Soooo tempting!

My latest Ebay purchase is this gorgeous mint necklace for just $6.64 {You may find it ever cheaper, if you search around}.  It's pretty perfect if you ask me.

Oh and if you want to keep up with me on a more regular basis, I'm on Instagram!  Find me @schuelove

That's all for now!  Check back in tomorrow for Ethan's newborn pictures!

Baby Ethan: Week 7

Weight: Umm I honestly couldn't tell you...his 2 month appointment is on the 27th, so we'll know for sure by then.  But I'm guessing somewhere in the 9+ pound range.

Health: Baby Boy is doing well in this department...he's getting bigger and stronger every day.  He loves kicking his legs and lifting his head during tummy time.  He's also begun spitting up, which is just lovely.  Time to bust out the burpie clothes!  He's also starting to grow back his hair that fell off on top.  And last, I'm happy to report that a majority of his umbilical cord stump has finally fallen {more like picked} out!  This happened on Monday, August 13th!  Yay!

Sleep: Ethan is still sleeping in 4 hour stretches through the night and takes two big naps during the day.

Clothes: Our growing boy is officially in 0-3 month clothes and is quickly filling them in.  It's hard to imagine how he used to just swim in them only a few short weeks ago!

Diet: Breastmilk!

Baby Gear Love: As E has become more alert, he's starting to take to his toys.  I read that babies at this stage can really start to grasp things, so we've showing him the rattle.  He hasn't quite caught on, but give him a couple more days and I think he'll just love it.  He also loves to cuddle when he sleeps and we found that he loves his little blankie.

Crying: Crying still only occurs when he's hungry, poopy or gassy.

Likes: Ryan's mini me is still his biggest fan!  And as mentioned above, he loves cuddling with his blankie and is starting to really enjoy his toys.

Milestones: We had our first date night, sans baby, to celebrate our anniversary!  Grandma and Grandpa watched the little guy and all went well!

And Ethan is officially smiling on demand now...we get tons and tons of smiles and love every minute of it!

Postpartum: I've started trying to workout here and there, which feels really good.  And though the weight is not falling off as quickly as I had hoped, I'm starting to recognize my body again, slowly but surely!  And random side note, but I no longer need to constantly apply lanolin...I guess you can say I've gotten used to breastfeeding!  ;)

I Do: Three Year Anniversary

Today is our anniversary!  I can't believe three years have gone by since we got married.

And my...how things have changed!

To my husband...my best friend, partner, and soul mate: Thank you for the most wonderful three years of marriage and for the almost ten years of being in my life.  From meeting my freshmen year of college at a Beta party {oh yes we did!}, to spending many wonderful years in San Luis Obispo and making lifelong friends, to our short stint in Sacramento where we adopted Mr. Whiskers and got engaged!  And finally moving to Tahoe where we bought our home, got married, remodeled, adopted Wilson and then welcomed our precious son.  I love you oh so much and can't want to see what the coming years hold for us.

Happy Anniversary Babe!

A Dose of Pretty: Mama Sara

Hello, my name is Sara and I write the blog a dose of pretty.
I am here filling in for Natasha while she enjoys being a new mom. I am
here sharing a bit about motherhood and my family.
I recently wrote a post about the 10 things moms should try to do
and you can read about it here.

Just two months ago we were a family of three.

And now there is four of us. I gave birth to Ella Sofia on June 3, 2012.
As you probably heard from the rest of the moms, being a mom is truly the best
job and the hardest. I love being a mom. It's the best feeling in the world.
I know this is so cliche, but I am struggling finding the words to describe the feeling.

Anyway, most of the time my house looks like above, toys scattered all
over the place. I would love my house to look organized every hour of the day,
but I have learned to let go and instead I am learning to appreciate
the lived-in look with toys. I have learned that baskets are a mom's best friend.
I literally have baskets in every room of the house so that when the kids go to bed
the mess of toys can easily disappear. It's important to me on some nights to enjoy
a glass of wine with the hubby without the evidence of toys staring at us.

Congratulations to Natasha on her new baby! Thanks for having me
on your wonderful blog.
