::Blog Love::

Happy Saturday Friends!

We just got done with the community festival and now it's raining and thundering!  So nice to be inside...with a glass of red in hand, snuggling up and listening to the rain pitter patter down outside.  The rumbling of the thunder is fun too!  Definitely a night in with a movie.

Friday Fancies::The Sequin Pant

Happy Friday Lovely Readers!

Thanks again for another dose of Fall 5 link ups yesterday!  I loved seeing all your inspiration and ideas...it's really getting me in the mood for the autumn season!  :)

This weekend...we are home and enjoying living in Tahoe!  We have a fun client dinner Friday night, a community festival on Saturday {complete with dog parade...you know Wilson will be there!} and maybe a project or two around the house.

Putting Together the Look

This week {av} suggested we pull together  a fashion forward look for Friday Fancies...and this really opens a lot of possibilities!  Well, I wish I had the gusto to wear these STUNNING sequin pants!  In fact, I loved them so much, I wanted to recreate the look, Schue Love Style.

  1. These IRO Metallic Viliana Sequin Pants {$539.55} are soooo gorgeous...but I think they would be quite difficult to wear IRL.  I mean, there is no forgiveness with these babies!  I still love them all the same.
  2. If I were to wear such fancy pants, I would prefer to top it off with more of a casual piece...to balance the outfit.  This All Saints Jaque Cardigan {$195} is the perfect combo of cozy and chic.
  3. Where to begin with this statement necklace?  I have a huge crush on this Giambattista Valli oversized chain-link necklace {$890} is something I could wear over and over again.
  4. Mint is my favorite color right and that makes these my favorite ankle boots.  These Burak Uyan ankle boots {$925} are gorgeous and would make a statement with any outfit.
  5. Last, no sequins outfit is complete without the stripes {am I right?} and this clutch is the perfect accessory.  This Edie Parker clutch {$1,195} is divine.  'Nuff said.
What do you think of sequin pants?  Would you wear them?
Have a great weekend!

Fall 5::Sequins and Stripes

It's Thursday and you know what that means!  It's time for another edition of...

I am super excited to introduce Liz from one of my favorite new blogs, Sequins and Stripes!  She recently launched her new blog and it's fabulous!  She has amazing style and I adore her IRL outfits.  Definitely worth checking out stat!  Take it away Liz!

Hi there! It’s Liz from Sequins and Stripes and I am super excited to be participating in Natasha’s fabulous new series: Fall 5. There are so many factors that play into my adoration for the fall season – the colors, fashion, décor, pumpkin pies, football season, jack-o-lanterns, crisp mornings, cozy knits, boots, and the anticipation of the holiday season. However, if I had to pick just five, here are my fall favorites:

1.     Fall Fashion:  The temperature transition between summer and fall allows for some amazing fashion styles to emerge. I love roaming around the city {I’m from Chicago!} on crisp, cool mornings in an oversized knit sweater, skinny jeans and boots. I will definitely be investing in a great coat {all you need to run out the door}, a fabulous pair of riding boots, a fisherman sweater, new skinny jeans, a dash of leopard, and a tailored blazer. Fall is such a classic season that you don’t need too many items to create a perfectly styled wardrobe.

2.     Chili: My favorite weekend routine in the fall is heading to the Farmers Market on Saturday morning, stocking up on fresh veggies, and inviting friends over for Sunday football and warm bowls of chili.  I love the spicy, warm smell that fills your home and the way it brings everyone together!

3.     Pumpkins: I mean, who doesn’t love pumpkins? Pumpkin seeds, pumpkin pie, pumpkin lattes, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin soup, pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin beer, and a good ol’ jack-o-lantern.  I love pumpkins.

4.     Fall décor: I think a large part of my love for fall is the décor. I always have candles lit in the fall, I hang my Christmas lights a little early, bowls of candy corn are always on hand, and I hang my first wreath of the season on my door.  Not only is the inside of my house decorated, I can’t get enough of all of the fabulous colors that fill the streets. Soon enough the leaves will change and the city will be filled with red, orange, and yellow galore.

5.     Fall nails: I have never been a black nail polish kind of gal, it makes my skin look pale and I’d much rather be wearing a fun color. Essie has some fabulous colors for this season and I have already snatched up a few new favorites! In order: Carry On, Case Study, Power Clutch, Lady Like, and Very Structured.

A HUGE thank you to Natasha for including me in this fun new series! I can’t wait for cooler weather and to take advantage of all of these fall favorites. Make sure to stop by Sequins and Stripes to find more fall inspired posts and daily inspiration for a styled life.

xoxo,
Liz

I totally agree with all 5 of these things...pumpkins and fun fall nail polish is especially at the top!  Thanks so much for sharing Liz.

And, as promised, I'm opening this series up to all of you!  Have you posted on any fall-related favorites lately?  Go ahead and link up and share...I would love to see what you're all falling for this fall.  Have fun!

DIY Showcase::Before & After

When I started blogging about 9 months ago, I could have never imagined where it would take me and what I would find.  I've been amazed at all talent that I see on each of your blogs...whether it be fashion, food, decor, DIY, or any combination of the above.  I've also been introduced to some of you who don't have official blogs yet, but definitely harbor an incredible knack for inventing and reinventing all things beautiful.

Jamie is one of those people.  I've known her now for some time, but had NO idea how amazingly talented she is when it comes to DIY and furniture makeovers.  And she's a photographer to top things off!  Check out her website here.  She's shared some of her projects with me and I begged asked her to showcase some of them with all of you.  Thankfully, she obliged.

I love how these bookshelves are styled...the turqouise is defintiely a fun theme with a lot of her work!  And what a great idea to fill an awkward cove.

What a great idea...add feet on the bottom, paint white, and add some great hardware.  Totally Pottery Barn worthy.

What a transformation with the gold hardware.

I LOOOOOVE this headboard...I think a DIY tutorial is in order, don't you?  Say yes and maybe we can twist her arm!

**Headboard tutorial found here!**

OH and remember the succulents we had at each place setting for our wedding?

Well, I had NO idea that you could replant these little guys after they had been cut.

But Jamie did and she replanted a couple...here they are thriving and doing well 2 years later!  LOVE!

I swear, Jamie has more talent and creativity in her little pinkie than I could ever hope to have.  I'll definitely look forward to what she does next...perhaps a blog or Etsy shop is finally in her future?!

Hope you're having great a great Wednesday so far!
