Baby Ethan: 28 Weeks

Weight: Ethan weighed in at 15 pounds 6 ounces at his 6 month appointment this past Monday!  He's actually on the chart now, which is awesome!  And he is 26 inches long!  :)

Health: Baby boy has been battling some dry skin patches, which it turns out is baby eczema.  So we've got some oatmeal bath and we're slathering on some intensive baby lotion morning and night to help it out.  We'll see if it helps!

Sleep: Just as I pulled out "Healthy Sleep Habits, Healthy Child" book and had confirmed with the doctor that he was old enough and heavy enough that he should be making it through the night, just like clockwork, he randomly slept great one night, only waking once and going right back down.  Then the next night he did the same thing.  We'll see how he does from here on out.  I would be THRILLED if he only woke up once a night for a quick feeding.  Fingers crossed this is a new trend.

Social: Ethan got to spend some time with Ryan's dad's side of the family this past weekend.  Oh and we had our first night without dad!  He had an overnight trip and it was just the two of us!  Luckily we did just fine...whew!

Diet: Breastmilk and formula during the day, nursing in the mornings and nights.  And we've been feeding him baby oatmeal and butternut squash puree this week. We tried sweet pea puree from the Plum Organics line and baby had a severe reaction to it.  His cheeks got really red and then he started vomiting about three different times.  Luckily, he was fine through it all, or I'm sure I would have freaked out more.  So we're skipping peas for now and avoiding Plum Organics for a little while.  Next up, is pear puree and banana puree!  Yummm!

Clothes: Officially in 9 month jammies, but he's still wearing 6 month onesis and pants.

Baby Gear Love: Ethan has fallen in love with his jumperoo all over again.  He can finally touch the ground without needing a pillow and he bounces and bounces and bounces a ton!  He just loves it!  It's so fun watching him!  We also got some more teethers for him.  He likes everything in his mouth.

Crying: Pretty much non-existent except for when he wakes up.  His nanny even commented on how he never cries.  Love that.  He didn't even cry during the vomiting episode!

Likes: He loves to move...whether it's jumping in his jumperoo or rolling on the floor.  He also loves music more and more every day!

Postpartum: Starting to notice a little more weight loss lately, which is nice.  And I *think* I'm done shedding.  Now I have these lovely baby hairs growing in at my hairline.

Milestones: Let's see, first aversion to food, first night without dad, and he's rolling back to front as well!

  6. He is such a cutie pie! I'm so glad he's started to sleep better...once they sleep through the night or only wake once it's amazing how much better you feel. And how scary that he vomited the baby food! I'll make a note to stay away from that brand in the beginning.

  10. i cant believe how big he's getting! and such a cutie patootie!

the pea episode would definitely have freaked me out.. glad he wasnt even phased! my little one is just shy of 4 months old and i cant wait to start trying solid foods!

it's awesome he never cries anymore! i'm hoping W will follow in that trend and cry less. she seems to only cry when tired or starving now.. which is loads better than where she used to be, which was crying all the time.

  13. Ethan is adorable :) Hope the good nights continue for you guys. We're struggling with nights too though my baby is only 4 months (but she's 16.5 lbs). She went from sleeping through to waking up twice for the last 3 weeks :/

  15. Aw he is so adorable!! What a scary reaction! Colson got a huge rash all over his face from earths best oatmeal cereal.. So scary! Colson also just slept through the night this last week and it was random. Have you ever tried the "dream feed"? I never wanted to bc who wants to wake a sleeping baby? But I tried it last night and it totally worked! Nursed him and put him down at 730, then when I went to bed at 11 I nursed him again and he never woke up but he ate great! Then slept til 6! We will see tonight If it was a fluke! Let me know what works with exzema. I just discovered c has this too and nothing is working for us. Trying renew lotion today.

  17. I don't think your little guy can take a bad picture! I especially like the second one of him sleeping. The hair loss situation will get better. My hair is finally back to normal after having my son 10 months ago. Hang in there!:)

  30. He such a little sweetie! Love his big eyes and big smile!

We had some issues with baby eczema too, yay for living in a cold dry climate. The thing that helped the most was switching the detergent we washed Alice's sheets in. They spend so much time rubbing their faces on the sheets, we thought it was worth a try. We switched to Nellie's natural soap for all her stuff and it totally helped!

  31. Awww he LOOKS so much bigger! Have you been using calendula lotion or oil for the eczema? Works pretty well. :)

  35. He's just so sweet!! :)

I didn't read the other comments, so my apologies if this is a duplicate! My baby had eczema as well, and we started using Cortizone cream when she has a flair up, and it takes it away within days! Her poor little legs were covered in splotches at one point, so we were doing it nightly then, but she hasn't had a problem in months now!
