Thoughts for Tuesday

First of all, I have to thank you all for the sweet and supportive comments from my Slimming Up for Summer post.  Just when I think the blogging community can't get any better, you all blow me away.  I really appreciate all the kind words, advice, and camaraderie.  One sweet friend pointed me to the 7 Minute Workout.  Have you heard of it?  I tried it last night and love it.  So easy to do outside while baby plays away on his blanket.  And really, if I can't fit 7 minutes into my day, then I clearly have bigger issues, right?!

I just treated myself to these Karen Walker sunnies.  I adore her brand, especially with the little arrow on the side.  I also spied this option for a fraction of the price!

Are you looking for a new blog to check out?  One of my favorite people, Laura, just started her own blog, Happily Ever Parker {clever right?} and she touches on life as a newlywed.  Her wedding was recently featured on Style Me Pretty too!  Lucky girl!  Go on over and show her some love!  ;)

I'm loving all the summer TV shows right now, between Mad Men, The Bachelorette, Real Housewives of OC, So You Think You Can Dance, and now True Blood...I'm pretty busy these days!

Last, I cannot BELIEVE Ethan turns ONE a week from tomorrow.  Holy cow!  I would love to hear what your favorite one year old toys and gifts are.  I need to get my shopping on!

Hope you have a great Tuesday!

Happy First Father's Day!

To my Amazing Husband,

This last year has truly been such a blessing, not only to watch Ethan grow into a sweet little boy, but to watch you be his Dad.  Last June, I wrote this post and I still stand by the fact that I always knew that you would be a great Dad.  You just have those qualities about you: loving, compassionate, fun and hands on.  You have been such an incredible support this past year and to watch you hold Ethan and now play with him is one of my favorite parts about being a parent with you.  Ethan is so lucky to have you as a Dad, friend, mentor and play buddy through his life.  I know you can't wait to coach sports, build legos and take him skiing one day...and I can't wait to watch you do those things with him.  It's going to be a wonderful life.

Thanks for being such a great partner and for making me Ethan's mom.  We love you so so much!

Slimming up for Summer!

Today I want to touch on what some might consider a "touchy" subject...it's the dreaded "w" word...

 weight

Yes, weight gain, weight loss...it's all I've been thinking about this last year {except for my amazing son, of course!}.  You've all read about my recent weight loss, but if you do the math, you know I still have about five pounds to go, and if I'm being really honest, I would love to lose closer to eight!  That would get me back to my pre-pregnancy weight, and hopefully {fingers crossed!} back into my pre-pregnancy jeans.

My weight loss journey has just NOT been easy for me postpartum.  For those of you who lost your pregnancy weight within months after having your baby, my hat is off to you.  In fact, some of you bloggers out there make the Hollywood stars look like slackers.  I was amazed to read how easily many of you dropped the baby weight and attributed it to breastfeeding and such.

I was absolutely convinced that if I watched my weight during my pregnancy and breastfed after, I would be in good shape too {literally!}, but that simply hasn't been the case.  Most people tell me I look great for just having a baby, but I know how my skinny jeans really fit.  And really, how long can I use the excuse of just having a baby?  It's been almost a year!  Besides, I don't want to look great for just having a baby...

I want people to stop in their tracks, as I'm carrying my son, and ask if I really did just have a baby because there's no possible way they can believe it!  ;)

Asking too much?  I don't think so!

{Flashback to fit, tan and happy on my honeymoon!}

With several weddings coming up this summer...and hello bikini season!...I don't have much time to kick it into gear.  Of course I plan to keep exercising and eating healthy meals, but I find I have the most success when I have simple guidelines to follow, like easy workout {and fast!} routines and having healthy snacks on hand.  I'm hoping with the farmer's markets going in full swing this summer, that will force me to buy fresh produce and stay away from carbs.  Also, when the sun doesn't set until late into the night, there's plenty of sunlight after work to go on walks or hikes...right?  Of course, the easier and faster the plan, the better.

Bottom lime: There's just really no excuse anymore...and I think the reality of a year has really set in. It's time to fulfill my weight loss goal and finally look like that mom.

So, what about you?  Please don't tell me I'm alone!  I'd love to hear why you're REALLY trying to lose those last couple of pounds.  Do you have a vacation coming up and want to be able to NOT photoshop the photos?  Reunion where just maybe you want to make an ex jealous?  C'mon. Spill the beans!

Father's Day Gift Guide {Better Late Than Never!}

It goes without saying that this Father's Day is more special than any other.  It's Ryan's first Father's Day {he was just nine days shy last year} and both our dads first Father's Day as grandpas.  So naturally, we will celebrate this Sunday!

I love picking out fun things to consider for the big day...thankfully, I've already ordered my gifts.  But for those of you who are still pondering what to buy, I can almost guarantee that any of the items above would make a fun gift.  I think the Instagram photo album {and for $12!} is a great way to document the previous year in photos and make your dad or hubby feel extra special.

What are you doing for your dad and/or hubby this Sunday??
